Helmet Aesthetics

It has been mentioned many times that folks would like to see a uniform revamp of sorts. One of the common themes is removing the silver altogether or at least going with a black helmet but I haven’t seen much thought of a blue helmet. What does the Huddle think about this concept?

My opinion is that it certainly pops with the white unis.

I think we should eliminate the silver-- Our helmet looks too much like New England's helmet.  Then you have the lions, Raiders, etc.

A black helmet would make us look like the Jags.

I think our helmet logo would look good on a white helmet.  I think the silver looks stupid with our all-white uniforms that have no silver on them anywhere.

I dunno. I would love to lose the silver out of the uniforms.  We have too many colors.  3 should be tops if you include white.

I'd be okay with it. It looks a little like an arena league helmet, but I'm sure it would grow on me.

I'm also over the silver helmet. It's too retro - I see that spangly ass helmet and just think grainy Dallas Cowboys footage from the 60s-  and doesn't go at all with our color scheme.

Black, agreed would look terrible with out white unis, and a black logo on a black helmet? Don't like white. Looks too much like Indy.

This at least is a color that would be uniquely our own. And in a team that badly need a new identity, or rather has been thrust into finding one, I think making the change would be representative of our organization; new look, eliminating the mistakes of the past, and innovating rather than trying to copy other teams.

I’m not sure white would work either but it would be the only look I’d be willing to give a shot but the silver helmet should stay. Black or blue helmet would look freaking STUPID.

As far as jerseys go, if they’re ever going to change them I hope it’s very subtle. Maybe remove the stripes over the shoulders and just go with a very clean look or add a couple stripes around the sleeves with the logo over top.

Clean and classic is what works long term. This blue/black helmet and new stupid nike jersey designs are having team recycle through jerseys every couple years.

    • If his seat was hot enough for him to be fired 6 games in then you should've just fired him when you made the decision to draft a QB #1 overall. I don't think you go from "this is definitely our guy" to "you're fired in 6 games". Seems like there would be had to have been doubts going in and that's not a recipe for success for a rookie QB.
    • I like to use the analogy that a high draft pick QB is like a new supercar. Great to have one except too often, one forgets that they are high maintenance. A bad team secures their car under a cheap tent, puts regular gas in the tank, services it at Pep Boys, and then blames the car for not working properly and proceeds to get another one.  At the least, Ward getting sacked 25 times already is a massive red flag. If you can't protect your rookie QB, you do not put him out there. Otherwise, it's taking your supercar and immediately spinning it right into a tree. A few survive that rough of a start. Most do not.
    • I don't think there's any one size fits all answer. I think you play the rookie when A) you think he's ready and B) you think there's a reasonable expectation that the overall situation provides him an opportunity to be successful, not necessarily in terms of wins and losses but just in terms of giving him a fighting chance with surrounding talent. If you rush either one it's probably not gonna be pretty.
