I don't understand the narrative that CAM was a diva and/or created drama.

From the day he arrived in Charlotte 99% of his quotes I've read were positive.  99% of his off field actions have been positive.   We were pretty darn good with Cam on the field too until the injuries started.

Did he dress like a clown?  Yes.   Did he pout like a child when things didn't go his way (post super bowl interview)? Yes.   How is that different that from Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, and any other young male who has been idolized since they were teenagers?

I must have missed all of his anti-team rants and all of those interviews where he made it clear it was all about him and not his team mates.

Some of you guys act like he was a bigger a-hole than Steve Smith, and that just ain't so!

same dude.  I just do not understand how people view Cam as a Diva or some trouble maker.  Yes, he wasn't perfect by any stretch of the imagination but what did he do that was so bad in so many peoples eyes, especially some Panther fans?  My wife and I loved Cam...dude never had nothing bad to say about any of his teammates.  He was a sore loser in his early times and lets be real, he could be a little bit of a sore winner as well but beyond that he reacted like most other QB's do in this league.

I don’t think Cam created that much drama. It was his cult following.

What’s weird is all the ‘Panthers fans’  who made cam threads 15 pages long are gone and this thread about the Panther’s new starting QB will be lucky to reach 2-3. Cam sure had a fanboys following, impressive on his part, but as someone who roots for the team, I just wish we had as many supporters for the new Panthers QB. Can’t say I didn’t see this coming though.

No on seems to have any controversial issues, cares about weapons, olines or receivers for Teddy etc...it’s like they all went away almost over night.

3 weeks later...and barely made it past 1 page, including several Cam love posts. I think Cam is the best thing to ever happen to the panthers, but Teddy's our guy now, and that's all I need to know. Go Teddy!

Teddy has  to do it on the field in Charlotte translating to Ws. He will have  better weapons, supposedly better coaching  and most likely a better line than.Newton ever had.

Don’t care if he is nice

Don’t care if his family is nice

Don't care if Teddy leads the team in ‘Kum ba ya’ drum circles every day

don’t care if he is Brady’s chosen one, and that’s the real reason Newton is gone

Same with  Rhule and the rest

In the  NFL, it is simple. have to win

Jab at Cam and I don’t care for it

I'm not so sure about that.  Cam fans can be so insecure.

Its coach speak.  They just spent $60m on their guy, of course they are going to say positive things about him.

This will be a controversial opinion but if you take a step back, Cam’s a really good natured guy but is erratic with his emotions. I don’t mind that he took losses hard but you have to hit a point where you’re just not rallying yourself back from those emotional hits all the time. Take the L, push forward. He was great at owning losses but there was work for improvement.

We all can improve in areas and that was his. Doesn’t discount how amazing he was for this place. He a good dude and phenomenal athlete.

Teddy is simply way more limited from an athletic standpoint.

I agree with your conclusion, he wasn't an a-hole.  At all.

You were however correct with your other assessments.  The difference in my opinion is how expressive Cam was with his emotions.  Brady, Rodgers take losses poorly and will get riled up, but the effect on Cam was so palpable and I can see it being uncomfortable for certain personality types.  He channeled his response in a highly emotive manner that was honestly frustrating because you could see him battling his ego on camera. I think that makes him a very honest, endearing and good person (who self assesses, all good things) but it showed a level of emotional fragility that many of these more dickish types don't want in their QB.  Brady and Rodgers float between as$hole and emotional (they're more as$holes)

Makes me appreciate Cam a lot actually, that personality isn't a problem but the culture of the NFL would frame it as such.
