Lol. Really? Colleges and schools were shut down within a couple weeks of March 4th. Are you trying to say that on March 4th no one was thinking about CV being a problem for sports when our local school’s sports teams were finished for spring within two weeks.

I’m glad you went to live games but the NBA shut down on March 11th and the ACC tourney shut down the next day. If you went to live games it was within 1 week of the trade so don’t try to make it look like games were going weeks or months after the trade.

So.... Hurney should’ve known that less than a week after the trade everything would shut down? But if it was weeks or months after the trade it’s fine because he only needs to be able to see 1 week into the future, not multiple weeks?

That’s complete nonsense. On March 4th the NBA and NHL both had no fuging idea that a week later their leagues would have to shut down completely for this long. And nobody could predict what the impact, if any, would be come time for football season.

Hurney is a dumbass for multiple reasons. Not being able to predict the coronavirus is not one of them. Not sure why this is so hard for you.

Again the trade was made on the 4th. I already said that things escalated quickly in March. And again the lockdown was supposed to be short and wasn't done in many states even now.

Look at Italy now. The truth is that if we had done the right thing in March and April we could have been opening up fine. It is our own fault things got out of hand talking personal freedoms instead of social distancing and masks.

BTW, I was very worried about Covid 19 early and followed the epidemiologists closely. But honestly I think I was in the minority. Sometimes as I look at folks at the beach I think I still am

You're not in the minority. It's just that dumbasses get more press, not to mention that dumbasses are running the country, saying things that other dumbasses want to hear!

Once again, how did this save money at any time. Please explain the logic in this cap move.

Not saving but reallocating from an overpaid, underperforming guard to LT, a much more important position. I wasn’t a fan of the trade and still am not but it’s not even close to some of the other terrible moves Hurney has made. It’s just not really a big deal.

Then it wasn’t a cap move. And if you just drafted your LT of the future, why do that. Instead of any draft pick, they invested 4M more into an injured, 5 years older LT on a one year deal. Then had to spend more to replace Turner with inferior players.

Because trai was due over 11 million next season (his last) and wanted an extension worth even more.  It’s clear we were positioning ourselves to be in great cap shape in 21. Hence all the dead can hits in 20.

I think you and others here are significantly overvaluing Turner. He and his contract were a liability here. We weren’t going to get much draft capital for him. The team determined it was better to take a chance on Okung. I’m not a fan of Okung and don’t like the trade but even if Okung sucks or retires it’s just not a big deal. There is some upside there but if he doesn’t realize that here it just doesn’t really hurt us that much.

The minute the team decided to trade him, and eat 9.6M in dead cap immediately, those years salary meant nothing.. They are gone to the Panthers. That’s the whole purpose of having to eat the dead money.

And since Okung is making 4M more than Turner this year, How did that save money? This false narrative has been going around as an excuse since the trade was made. But anyone that actually understands the salary cap knows better.
