hey folks just want everyone to know I enjoyed my crow plate and thank you to Igo for providing it for me. I have learned my lesson to not be a perpetual douche on this message board and that life after cam can actually be enjoyed.

sanjay gave me this:

Not convinced on Tepper either, but at least the Rhule era has been fun to start. Good on you for owning up!  No harm in being annoyed at how things transpired over the off-season imo.

At least Tepper had enough sense to fire Rivera and hire Rhule.   My biggest beef with him is how he treated Cam but hopefully he can learn from it .

I dont understand keeping Marty, but maybe his plans there will make more sense in time.

While I dont think we know the full discussions with Cam, Tepper certainly came off as a dick at the end of all of this and borderline incompetent for thinking a player was done that certainly doesn't seem to be.  But whatever.  I'm happy enough for Cam now that it doesn't bother me like it used to.

I'm not convinced on Tepper yet either, but there's some positive to be seen from Matt Rhule and Teddy Bridgewater so far.

As to Newton, I still feel like the ultimate catalyst for that was Joe Brady.

I think he was speaking of the way they treated Newton and his release, not necessarily that he was released (late as hell by text). Moreover, I feel that Brady was that catalyst for Teddy, but I still think that Tepper was lukewarm to cool on Newton (which may have precipitated it all).

Tepper was reportedly lukewarm on Newton from the time he bought the team. Word was that Hurney and Rivera wanted to offer an extension but Tepper said no.

With that said, I think if Matt Rhule and his staff had voted to keep him, he'd still be here.

This team will always be my number 1, however, when Hurney is finally banished you best believe I am going to have a Superbowl-like party. Even if they just move him to different spot where he can be given a title like Meatball Manager or something. Everything else seems to be falling into place, with that one exception.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
