Two games without a sack - Okung: Who would want to hit that guy?

Hats off to the Panthers OL at keeping Teddy largely clean the last two weeks, allowing no sacks.  According to David Newton over at ESPN, Russel Okung had this to say about the OL's work keeping Teddy off the ground: "He's such a great person, who would want to hit that guy?''  Love it!

Also some credit where credit is due - scheme & quick release have helped mask some weaknesses on the OL.  But great work by the big guys at opening huge holes for our RBs, as well!  OL has been a much-improved area this season after years and years of it being a huge weakness for the team.

edit: pantherj believes the quote was wrongly reported from Newton and was "who would want to get that guy hit?", which would make more sense.  regardless, great job by the OL

With the way he's played, would be nice to get Okung for another year before he hangs it up.  Need to extend Moton first, and then offer Okung some Bitcoin.

Okung was a great pickup.  I was pretty skeptical of him, to be honest, but I also had basically given up hope of having a decent OL.

his run blocking has been fuging fantastic too. i loves seeing him pick up toddering mike davis early in the game and setting him down past a couple tacklers to churn out another chunk of yards.

I hope someone makes a gif of that play. It was amazing, hahaha.

My question with Okung is still how long he can keep it up.

No question he's good when healthy (infinitely Superior to Greg Little) but I seriously doubt he's a long-term solution.

What he exactly said was "who would want to get that guy hit?" He was talking very fast.

Updated the OP.  That would make more sense, lol

It is funny how everyone talks about how much the team loves Teddy.  Never really heard a player talked about quite like this.

Teddy's communication with the offensive line pre-snap is a huge reason why our pass pro is so good. If you noticed that we get out of the huddle with about 15 seconds left and let Teddy maneuver the pass pro and identify any blitzers. This coupled with Brady's playcalling has allowed Teddy to stay off the ground the past eight quarters.

This isn't to take anything away from our offensive line. They busted Atlanta's ass today.
