In fairness, the article listed 8 and Brady was at the bottom of the list.  Highly unlikely at this point.  Wouldn't be shocked though to see him take over for SP in New Orleans at some point.

I don't think SP is going anywhere any time soon. Brady probably gets other HC offers well before SP is gone from NO.

The offense has looked good for sure and Brady has mostly impressed but our record is 3-2 and somehow our D is actually ranked slightly better than our O this year... We're winning games with overall play across O, D & ST. Brady may get interviews but I highly highly doubt he gets any HC offers this year or even next year. It's not like we're lighting up the league offensively or Brady's carrying this team with playcalling/scheme. He's done very well overall but not well enough to get HC jobs this early in his coaching career.

y'all are crazy as hell if you don't think brady isn't gone after this season. nfl teams give out HC jobs based on potential, and brady has tons of potential, its not a results based resume thing anymore.

well, history is a guide to what likely occurs.

There would be no comparable that I am aware of if Joe Brady were offered a job w/ a resume that read....1 year NFL OC.  I know he had jobs prior but this is his first real resume accomplishment in terms of HC jobs.

Chudzinski got a job after one year as an OC, though he did have some years of position coach experience prior to that. On the flipside, Jack Del Rio parlayed one year as Panthers DC into a head coaching role.

But yeah, Brady's pretty short on experience. To be honest, most guys have more experience than him before they get their first OC job, much less a head coaching spot.

Could somebody gamble on him anyway? Sure they could, but I'm not sure it'd be smart. And there are guys like Eric Bieniemy who realistically should get their shot first.

What about a college coach that had just gotten fired from a third tier D1 program with an overall losing record immediately getting an NFL HC job? The guy went 17-21 with Mahomes as his QB and the Cardinals still hired him as their HC. Yikes.

Chud was our OC for 2 years.   He was the OC for the Browns prior.  The DA Pro Bowl era.   He also was an assistant HC.

But good call on Jack Del Rio.  You are right on that one.  Just 1 year as a DC and got the Jags offer.

NFL teams make some really head scratching decisions w/ college coaches.  That is a fact.  I will never get how he landed that job and it should surprise no one what is happening w/ that team/talent.

Yep. When Kingsbury got hired, I was like... damn, I guess anything is possible now. I thought he'd probably land a QB coaching gig or something. Even an OC job would've been a stretch IMO.

I mean, I kinda gotta give the Cardinals credit for going all in on their #1 overall pick franchise QB like that, but really? That guy is how you choose to do that? Okay...

Yeah, Chud was here for two. I must be mixing him up with somebody else.

I feel fairly certain there's at least one case of a single year OC getting a head coaching job, but I can't remember who it was.

I had a similar reaction to Lane Kiffin getting the Raiders job. Of course that was when Al Davis was still around and most of the truly qualified candidates were avoiding that job like the plague.

    • I really appreciate Bill explaining his methodology here because that gives interested parties a chance to try and recreate the results themselves. I believe that it's safe to assume that despite emphasis being placed on WRs that Chuba Hubbard is one of the Panthers' top-5 weapons. Considering targets, yardage, receptions, etc... Adam Thielen and Xavier Legette are also on the list. Jalen Coker's success might have snuck him in there as well. I can't draw a conclusion on who #5 is though. I've narrowed it down to Diontae Johnson, David Moore, Ja'Tavion Sanders, and possibly Rico Dowdle if they're taking into account his production for the Cowboys in 2024.
    • Unfortunately business is business especially when there are large sums of money on the table. Goes the same for player and ownership. Does not make it right either way.  Why would he not want to play for the niners? Closer to home with a team that has a chance of delivering a SB trophy.
    • I don’t know if it’s him bad mouthing his former situation in public or my pettiness but either way I’m not a fan. Dude was on playoff teams getting paid millions to entertain. I’m not better that because and I am better than that. You don’t bad mouth your former employer in public. Esp after getting over paid and two, poor little Russian baby didn’t get the playing spot he wanted. Rod had him exactly where is was supposed to be.  He had a mean lip check and did defend our players. Specifically the devils game around Christmas where is our Haula on his ass. Cool. Thank you. But don’t talk poo about us. Because it make you look like Haula.    “need to get as far away as possible”. fug off. Didn’t see Burnsy bad mouthing and his play dropped off too.    sorry, but Orlov doesn’t get a pass from me. See you twice a year…
