OMFG, Rivera may be getting "it" after all this time!

Maybe it took him being canned in Carolina, or the buck basically stopping with him in our nation's capital, but Ron Rivera seems to be admitting the fault that some of us complained about for years! I have said many times that Rivera's definition of competition was essentially a rhetorical exercise born of old school status quo notions of not rocking the boat and detrimentally catering to aging vets! Well, he may be realizing some of the errors of his ways!

It's fair to wonder if Washington might have fared better had Rivera given his other quarterbacks a better shot in training camp. Rivera wishes he'd done so.

"Yeah, I would have. I would have. The biggest thing I would have done is I would have created a few more opportunities mixing everybody around," Rivera said during an appearance on 106.7 The Fan. "As opposed to saying okay I'm going to stick with just the one guy and do that. I think now in retrospect, and again, hindsight in 2020, I would.

"What I'm saying is I made a mistake and I'm owning up to it and that's the truth. To put it as simple as that, that's what I'm saying. I'm just being honest."

He says that if he has an opportunity to do things differently in the future, he's going to do things differently! As the man in control, he will get that opportunity! Too bad that he didn't have this epiphany while he was here a few years back! But the past is the past. All we can do is learn from experiences in our own time.

We do actually have a thread about this, FWIW.

    • I thought he was from watching him play and also doing his first HC job. I thought he was the real deal  Apparently what happened is Kraft committed to Mayo and I don’t remember the timeline exactly - but Vrabel was unemployed at the same time Belichick was unemployed. They both were fired after the 2023 season.  Kraft hired Mayo. Who was kind of an obvious disaster. He probably already had the deal in place but I will give Kraft credit for not sleeping. With Vrabel out there for 2025 he made the move he needed to make and if it hurt Mayo’s feelings then oh well.  I guess you can tell I am not fond of Kraft but that was a really savvy move. At his age, pretty good. Still has it.
    • It’s going to feel like a home game for the bills. There are so many of their fans that live down here now, and many of them have never seen Allen play in person since their last visit was 8 years ago. It didn’t matter for the cowboys game, but it might here. I think we likely lose a close one. Probably a questionable flag or two that doesn’t go our way. X factor for Buffalo will be Kincaid and Knox. If we do win it’s because we get ahead and play keep away from Allen. FYI- I have many friends who are Bills fans that are fed up with Beane who we all revere and think is the one that got away. They feel like he was great to land Josh but has done a terrible job of building around him (especially at WR) and rely on him to become super man to win- sounds kind of familiar, like the last time we had a franchise QB.
    • I always thought of him as an uptight military family dude, didn't know he needs to wash that mouth out with soap lol.
