Falcons might be hiring Arthur Smith...

Mr. Scot

... according to Dianna Russini.

Ian Rapoport says there's nothing official yet, but notes that Smith canceled a trip to Detroit.

Joe Brady still has a couple of options, but it might not be this one.

Terry Fontenot is slated to get the GM job there but has said that he won't do anything until the Saints are finished in the playoffs.

He's getting a lot of flack over their recent playoff loss.

Started off looking great but then the Ravens adjusted and the Titans never looked the same.

He got Derrick Henry 2k yards and resurrected Ryan Tannehill and Corey Davis' careers.

Offensively, he is at worst, competent.

Valid. Folded in the playoffs but got to the playoffs.

Be interesting to see what kind of staff he'd put together.

Teams recognize that Brady just ain't ready.

But hey, they all got to know him better. Awesome.

Lol. I’d love to be the coach. Here’s how I decide what play to run and these are my two favorite 3rd down plays...Ooh, at the goal line, you have to run this play until you get to the 1 and then I do this one...It was very nice to meet you and you’re welcome for my playbook.

The rumors about them wanting Brady were so strong. I wonder if they got turned off by some of the blowback I was seeing about our first year 30 year old OC getting more attention than Eric Bieniemy.

If so, I think they tripped themselves into a better decision. Unfortunately.

I think it might be more that they got blown away by Smith than turned off by Brady.

That's my guess anyway...

    • This.  He knows where the seam is about to open, cuts, and accelerates hard. He’s slippery and tacklers always seem to be taking awkward angles to get to him. No dancing. Runs low and powerful. Almost never goes backwards for a loss. We’ve rarely had the guy who bounces off of tacklers. It’s nice seeing another one.
    • I can't speak for others but yes I read it. The conclusions are based heavily around the use of the statistical metric DYAR created by football outsiders and used by ESPN for this article. It only includes players whose production began in 2000. But excluding HOF running backs who produced BIG in an iteration of the NFL that was not yet catered to making things much easier for offenses in order for them to prop up more recent candidates is rather absurd and seems like just playing favorites regardless of where one might fall on their opinion of the use of the metric in question.
