Person pointed out that even if it does, they're in a very good position to trade back if someone else wanted to move into that spot and take a quarterback.

We could get them a 3rd or something along those lines and they'd basically be getting a pick for free with us taking a QB and then them taking whoever they would've taken at #7 at #8. #7 plus next year's 3rd is what the value chart says. #7 plus this year's 3rd would give them considerably over chart value.

Trading Teddy is going to require us giving up draft capital. I said this before the Stafford trade.

At this point it makes way more sense to keep him and draft a QB. Either way we can cut him next year without much worry. I worry way more about CMC and Shaqs contracts then I do about Bridgewaters.

I know the team is gung-ho to get a quarterback this year, but I'm increasingly less convinced it's going to be possible to get a true quarterback of the future.

it feels like if we do acquire one, it's gonna be somebody around the quality of Mac Jones.

I'd honestly rather accumulate future draft capital and go after Howell or Rattler next year. Jones just ain't it. He's likely a Goff or Cousins at best.

The Rams haven't had a 1st round pick since 2016 yet they've had four consecutive winning seasons. That's the type of consistent success a Panthers fan could only dream about.

god forbid this organization ever does something like that the way this community beats off over panthers first round picks

That probably depends on two things, the first being how patient David Tepper is willing to be.

But the second, and more significant factor, what does Matt Rhule really think about Mac Jones?

To the "But the Lions are going to draft our QB!!!!", crowd.   You can officially chill the heck out and pour an ice cold bucket of water over your heads.

Believe it or not, Adam Schefter says that's still possible.

What worries me more though is we thought that somebody else who wants a quarterback badly trades up with them.

A couple of different sources of pointed out that the Lions would be in a really good spot to trade down now.

Man don’t say that. I can’t stand another year of Trashwater under center. I am still positive the Panthers will trade up or get Lance.

San Francisco and Denver are the only two that come to mind unless someone comes from way back in the pack.  While both of those teams have "iffy" QB situations, they are not dire situations.  Both of those teams could just as likely go into 2021 with their current guy.

It's not an absolute that we go into another year with Bridgewater. Just we might not get a franchise guy.

It's also possible we get another bridge guy / reclamation project like Trubisky.

    • If we don't go OT, we will regret it.  What bothers me?  Are we going to get a starting-caliber OT at 19?  I think the draft is solid at OT, and the more I read up and watch video, the more I watch Lomu, the more I want him.   I see Freeling as a RT who needs some work in run blocking (since we need to run first, maybe not a good fit) and I see Proctor ending up as a Guard.  After Lomu (assuming Mouigia and fanu are gone), I think we wait until round 2.  In round 2, there are about 3-4 I like (Zuhn--good pass blocker and VERY underrated right now; Tiernan is a very good pass blocker as is Miller from Clemson, but both are not good in the run game.  Max Ixxxxx from Ariz St is impressive too---technically, there is not a of difference in these second tier guys--good in pass pro, need work in the run game.   If we wait until round 2 for an OT, we probably need to sign Nijman and start him early.   I almost think this is what we should do if Lomu is gone.  There is a big dropoff after him, imo, and I think we'd get better value if a stud ILB or edge is there.  Someone like TJ Parker Clemson makes sense. If Lomu is gone, trading back might be the play.
    • And what is x gunna help with except show him what not to do. Plus for the first year and a half he was just an obstacle
    • I understand that some people want WR. I am solidly against using yet another high pick there. Coker is pretty good and we used No picks on him.  What I think we really need at WR is a little bit of a Smitty lite. It is ridiculous to say let’s get a Smitty because you just can’t do that, but someone not tall and long striding but more in his mold. I think we’d have a pretty well rounded group.    Looking at tackle, with replacing Moton looming, it just seems like the no brainer.  You fill in Icky short term. Depending on how he recovers, and how the new guy plays, you go from there. A tackle at 19 is most likely either a LOT, a ROT, or a big talented guard, at worst. We will need all three in the next couple of years.  I would love to have a stud ILB be there at 19 but the OL is the responsible thing to do I believe.
