I don’t know if you heard Rhule discussing Teddy at the end of the season, but it was pretty obvious that he and TB had ‘the talk’.

TB knew the team wanted an upgrade.

Right, but the public didn't necessarily have to know that. The team could have hedged by not being so public about it so that if they did need to bring Teddy back out, the fans would only suspect.

It's complicated for sure. The team just seems to have left themselves no option but to replace him, if not have him entirely off the roster, and it's an odd way to play it. On the flip side though perhaps we can view the directness as refreshing.

I don't care what the business model behind the de-franchise QBing of the Carolina Panthers was, the results are embarrassing and has added more of a question mark as to what the heck is this Tepper guy is good at and is it at all applicable to a successful FOOTBALL operation? I have yet to see a strong football move aside from hiring Rhule, which is still an ongoing evaluation.

Success doesn't always translate over from one profession to the next, ask MJ, great at basketball, baseball is a totally different sport so much so that his "greatness" didn't translate.

All these obvious and public mistakes, including the Teddy contract doesn't exactly engender trust from the diehards. In hindsight aside from 2010 (intentional on JRs part) Ive never seen this team more out of sorts.

    • Watching games this year again and Bryce missed a wide open XL many times and some of them were in the endzone. I get the kid has mental lapses and hasn't broke out yet, but this is year three on a rookie deal! Cutting bait now is too early. If he hasn't gained anymore trust from his QB, posted any highlights, little production, or outright gets beat out then we can talk movement.
    • Samesies   I truly may just cash completely out of Panther football if we give him a long term deal that isnt necessary.  I have watched NFL for 50 years now and I can without a shadow of a doubt say you cannot win consistently with BY.  Way too many limitations to deal with.   I may come back around in 3 years when the inevitable happens and all parties are either cut and/or fired.  Giving him a deal before this season so you hopefully can get him cheaper in case he "blows up" or if you truly believe that he will has to be the most moronic decision a gm can make when the evidence is laid before you with different players
    • This is the one! I was at that game and all KB had to do was lay down on the corner after the pick or make an obvious tag while he was down. He had already ran a lazy route. Then if Cam would've just walked to the sideline like most elite QBs instead of trying to make the tackle.  A lot of people bring up the TJ Watt hit, but he just reaggravated a bunch of scar tissue from that play. And every Cam hater said that the running did him in and it was a dive tackle attempt on an interception that initially began the shoulder deterioration. He still went to New England later and would've got them in the playoffs had their A team not sat out the covid year. We quit on him too early. But hey how good was Teddy? Am I right?
