Classes like this don’t exist. Come on bro.

Funny someone who suggested class is someone whose experiences in life featured that word as an adjective that preceded "clown" and "less".  Just kidding--back to the Watson Watch.

Verge never said this was a done deal. She said we were in the mix.

I had a long talk with my wife about naming our son after the new Panther QB Deshaun Watson.    She said no because he is already 10 years old and accustomed to the pointless name we gave him when he was born.   What a buzzkill.

I don't know--Buzzkill is a cool name too.  You could call him Buzz for short.

(this is my dry humor that gets lost on some Huddlers--maybe my fault because they do not expect it and it is rarely funny)

A) CMC isn’t just a rb

B) there’s no way of knowing if this year was going to be the new norm for him. We paid him early precisely so by the end of his second contract would be when he carries start catching up with him, not at the beginning of his second contract.  And if we had waited and gave him a second contract a year or two later it would have been even bigger due to contract inflation

C) I’m not completely against trading CMC, but not along with three 1sts. If we were to trade CMC for picks we’d easily get more than a 1st. Maybe two. Four or five firsts value is a bit too much. I’m all for going big for Watson but not THAT gd big

If you are down to give up 3 firsts or whatever, you have to be down to give up 4 as well.  Once you are in the game, you are in the game.  Realistically, there should be no price too high to get a guy like Watson.  First round picks are HUGELY over-valued by most people.  The Rams have not, and will not have a first round pick for nearly an entire decade, and they are one of the more successful teams around lately.  They deal their firsts for proven superstar players.  Not a bad model to follow.  Draft picks are unknowns.  Established talents are not.

Even back when the league was run heavy, look at how many teams  won whose RB ate one of the top 3 salaries of their cap space...  For as long as I can remember the teams that win it have a budget back and/or run by committee.  I love CMC, and yes, he is more than just a RB, but he is primarily a RB, and that cannot be the player you build an offense around, period.  Teddy had 3 receivers eclipse 1k total yards this year, and that still wasn't enough for our offense to win, because those players had to do it themselves.  9 times out of 10, if your best player on offense isn't your QB, you're not going to win a Superbowl.  Period.  So, if it takes CMC to get Watson, so be it.

Its untenable to pay a RB AND a QB top flight money,  especially when you can get a serviceable RB for pennies compared to what we pay CMC.  You cannot pay a guy like Watson 35 mil and also pay CMC 16 mil....and also pay Moton 17-20 mil or whatever it is.  No way you tie up 40% of your cap in 3 spots on offense.

and you forgot to add that only played in 3 games this season due to multiple injuries from getting run into the ground his 2nd and 3rd seasons.

What makes you think his injuries last year had anything to do with his previous usage?  He sprained his ankle, and then hurt his shoulder....what are you talking about?

Former Panther, Torrey Smith chimes in on ESPN saying that it makes sense because of who Tepper is, a bold risk taker that made billions doing the same.

I think Torey makes some good points, but his reasons do not seem based on insider info, just his perspective.  But he makes good points---if Tepper gets involved, and he will be involved--he will be aggressive.

We should all not dismiss the fact that had CMC been signed to a reasonable, Panther-friendly deal by Marty "I pay RBs like LTs" Hurney, we could be keeping him and dealing away another Panther player like Shaq Thompson--some big contract has to go, and of course they will want CMC.

it is so ironic that Tepper, a visionary hedge fund manager who was good at seeing into the future inherited a GM that was a former sports writer--an occupation that requires describing the past.  One requires analytical calculation about future performance, the other requires converting past events into descriptive words.  So Tepper will spend on his calculated speculations about the future return, where Marty tends to pay for past performance.  If you think of the way their brains are wired, it is no wonder Hurney had to go.

All that to say this--we are still having to deal with Hurney's contracts, but we are about to enter an era in Carolina we have never seen before.  So we have to try to reprogram our brains accordingly--to stop thinking the way we used to think.

I think that makes sense.

1st rounders are hugely valuable, but I feel like Panthers fans have a distorted view of that value. For the most part under Hurney, only 1st round picks mattered. The majority of the rest of the picks might as well have been spent on drafting Huddlers. The results wouldn't have changed significantly.

Can we trade David Newton?

His middle name is Fig.  His brother is Isaac and makes David call him "Sir".  His dad is MAC so when he stands in front of a mirror, he thinks he is CAM.  His mother is Olivia and she had her own bathroom with a sign on the door that says, "Olivia Newton's John"

So he has no trade value.

There is nothing realistic about your take.

You can say anything as you have zero responsibility for and nothing on the line. As a fan you can praise a move like that and when it bites the team in the ass you can retroactively criticize it as is typical.

    • Why even watch them? I mean if you are already saying you are projecting another failed season with happening what you are claiming will happen then where is the motivation for you to even watch? Sounds as if you have zero hope here, so what's the point or motivation for you to even turn your tv on next season?
