Richard Sherman thinks Mac Jones criticized unfairly

He seems to be great at his pre snap reads. He already knows where to go with the ball. The question is what he will do without an obvious pre snap option like he is used to on every play with Bama? He might be great for all I know, but there just seem to be a really small room for error without that super obvious pre snap read.

It feels like he need a great supporting cast (spectacular o-line etc.) to work.
Not a fan, but I’ll obviously root for him if we pick him. But at 8 I want a star player, not an “just ok” QB.

Yes--he will need a good running game, weapons on the outside, a TE, and good OL.   I am looking at Jones as a possibility if the top 4 go top 7 and we don't bring in Watson.

I still think we get Watson, however.  (Reason?  Why would the Jets give up 2 first rounders and the rights to Wilson to get Watson?  Miami is not going to dump Tua yet--they just drafted him, and he was coming off surgery and had no preseason.) The Falcons will bring in a young QB to play behind Ryan for a season or so (I am thinking Mond in round 2) and the Lions (Goff) and Eagles (Hurt) are not going to get into the bidding.  So why trade for Watson?  Those teams will likely trade back.  Just my theory).

look. You can't go comparing Brady and Brees to anyone that isn't mobile. At least Brees and Brady have accuracy, Smarts, and savvy. I can't say the same for anyone compared to them.

The league is moving away from the Stoic/Statue type QB. This offense is not built for that type of QB.

Yes, but would you have said that about Brady and Brees in college?

I get your point, Ivan.  I still think the QB that processes the fastest and makes the throws is going to be successful.  The mobile QB is a product of the college game changing, making the pocket passers hard to find---

Tampa Bay (Brady) and Alabama (Jones) won rings this year.  There is that.

Brady's offense?

It's absolutely built for a pocket passer type.

We're running a WCO type scheme with similar route concepts to what they used in New Orleans with Brees. You don't need a run threat QB for that.

@MHS831 has been dropping bombs with defending Jones making it hard to ignore. I forget the "expert"(was a trusted one for me), but they love Jones. He was saying if you compare Tuas' season/games with Jones, both had similar weapons and OL.... Jones had the better season thus is the better player!  Many teams had Tua for the top pick/top three, even with a awful hip injury he Dolphins took him at 5. It made me go "hmmm" and Mhs is too.

Lol I didn't want Tua either. He has no arm.

What's with you guys and these rag arm QBs?

I didnt say Im for Jones, its the opposite. Hes just bring good points about Jones, Tua was the apple of many teams eye. Im 152% Lance and dont even want to pick Jones with the panthers 2nd rounder.

Mac Jones really doesn’t need endorsements from anyone right now.  He is going top 15 in this draft without question.  If its the right organization he will be better off than anyone the Jets or Jags choose.

I am going to keep mentioning too that Tua will be a damn good QB in this league.  I am far from moving away from that happening.

Gotcha.

Anyone that can't figure out he can't throw deep, deep outs and opposite hash throws after watching that video I posted then I don't know what to tell them.

This is certainly possible. If I'm the Jets and I'm sold on Wilson, I'm probably out of the Watson race. I have no idea what Miami is going to do. I get the feeling that there's a deep divide in that organization with one contingent wanting to stick with Tua and one contingent wanting to cut bait and move on. Admittedly, I have nothing but a hunch to base that on.

Before that video, people where trying to compare Jones and Burrow, FULL stop for the reasons you listed.

Its pretty clear you don’t believe in Tua...that is totally fine but Miami has a great future especially if he works out.  They could move down and probably grab multiple picks and still get an amazing WR or other position.  Going QB in this draft feels really stupid.

Yeah I don't see Miami going with another QB either. I'm not sold on Tua myself but I also think he needs more time, and they knew it would be multiple seasons to truly evaluate him when they drafted him. Given QBs will probably go 1 and 2 they'll have the pick of incredible players, or they can trade back to a qb hungry team like us.

If he's as good as he's going to get physically after that injury he's not going to be good enough.

    • Completely agreed.  TBH, we have had so many great players that are in my favorite list, and I hate to narrow it down to one, but Cam is it.  Which is crazy, because you would think it would be more of the guys I grew up watching, but no.  Cam was the single most impactful player to ever out on a football uniform imo.  And like I said in an earlier post, I always felt a kinship with him in a lot of ways…  the way he was treated and judged for the off the field stuff in Florida and having to overcome all of that and fight show at back.  And although I am not a black man, I have always been welcomed by and accepted more by minorities, and thus, I know what it’s like to be judged by appearances rather than the content of your character and who you actually are.  I know what it’s like to be stereotyped and written off or mistreated for your mistakes.  I know what it’s like to be held to a different standard while your peers don’t have to meet that same standard.  So I always related to that.  And the way he came in and just electrified the whole franchise, man…  I still think about it often how much it sucks that because of how talented he was, our staff out so much on him and that ultimately cut his career short.  You’re right, there will never be another Cam…  I think Josh Allen is the closest thing we will see for a long time, but Allen is not the running threat Cam was.  Cam could run you over or around you.  That was THE absolute funnest time to watch our team ever.
    • It definitely needs more specificity than is baked in now.
    • The weirdest encounter I had with a pro athlete was waiting in line at security at Mile High Stadium when I used to get the company suite tickets almost every week because I was the only employee based in Colorado. There's a small checkpoint accessing the suites that virtually no one knows about that you can usually squirt right through. I was standing there and looked over my shoulder and there stands John fuging Elway waiting in line behind me.  This was during the The Golden Calf of Bristol season right before he became GM. I just said "They make YOU go through security?" He's like "Yeah, ain't that a bitch. I literally have a statue out front and I gotta go through security like everybody else." I've heard mixed things about him but he was super nice and down to earth with me that day.
