Problem is we were 18th (I think that is right) with a QB getting the ball out in about 2.5 seconds.  With a WCO-type release time, you have to be better than 18th.  Ask yourself how that 18th-ranked OL would look if the time to release was at the league mean, which I think is just about 2.75 seconds.  A quarter of a second doesn't sound like much, but quarter seconds are the difference between plays succeeding or failing a lot in the NFL.

That's the problem with ranking OLs.  You almost have to find a way to adjust what they did against a common baseline.  New Orleans' OL is almost certainly going to be better on paper than Cleveland's (I think Mayfiled had the longest time to release), but are they really better?  And were they better on paper because they did what was asked of them, or did the offense adjust to their limitations?  In New Orleans case, it was almost certainly the former, but in the Panthers' case, we were bottom half based on what was asked of them.

Regardless, if I am trying to run a WCO or offshoot, I am not happy about the OL ranking 18th against the rest of the league, given the numbers are not adjusted.

And they agree with you probably which is why they are changing lineman, no?

Wtf Carter played well he earned a starting spot imo

Like I said, this is just my impression so I don't know if it's true.

I did think the Panthers might want a better starter at MLB anyway.

Don't see anything weird posting from Carter...

I found his post about not looking to move on from Charlotte a little odd. He also said something to Zach Kerr about "seeing him on the other side".

None of it's conclusive though.

See my post above. The more I look, the more we got swindled. These two should have been had for way less like low end starter salaries not average.

Our new GM might be a very smart/high IQ guy but such people often seem to lack common-sense, signing these two underwhelmers could hint he has this problem.

I've heard a couple of people suggest that, and I just can't get on board.

It would be a very Panther thing to choose a draft where the offensive line class is expected to be good and deep to be the one where we trade away all our picks.

I mean, Fitterer told everyone his strategy. He wants to go into the draft with as few holes as possible so that we can get the BPA! I mean, this isn't really rocket science.  With the draft being deep in quality OL prospects, I'd bet that we pick up one or two.

    • Other things - I agree could get him fired one day. However, not drafting a tight end this year is not going to be any reason. DC couldn't really do much with how many of the tight ends most of us figured would be around day 3 went day 2. Tight ends I would have liked for us to get day three like Delp, Roush, and Raridon went in the 3rd. I think we were smart not joining that tight end Rush and instead focused on a receiver that was great value where we got him in the 3rd round.
    • He so is far from being what people claimed he was.   What he was, is we hope and pray for consistently average in year 4. That’s what he is.  We should just move on if that’s the best he can be.
    • I am gonna believe it wasn’t us if the 4th round pick price is accurate. We needed 225 points to get from 19 to their pick. 875 at 19 to 1100 at 14.  Our 2026 4th was valued at 56 points I think. A future 4th has less value. So that wasn’t close to enough.    It would have taken our third and our fourth. Comes within a point of even.    Now, moving to their spot in the second round we could have done but after Miami took Rodriguez why would we?
