What happened to their coach?  And no, it has not "turned out well for them".  Tanking in the NFL does not work.  Everyone is going full /swoon over Miami's brilliant strategy.  Guess what.  They never tanked.  Once.  Ever.

Not enough to make us lose.  Haskins is terrible.

Literally one gm. I bad play call anything yes, me i would have coached for draft position.

This is also why you are regulated to whining on forums, and not a GM.

In my opinion the week we played WFT the writing should have been on the wall for tepper/rhule to see. It was clear even to me, just a fan, that we were in a race with the falcons for a top 5 pick. I KNEW if we won against WFT and falcons continued losing, they would have pick 3 or 4.

So if I knew, why didn't they? In a draft like this one where there's so many good QBs. Knowing teddy sucks. Knowing Matt ryan is getting older. It was just a foolish move not to find a way to lose that game.

A situation like that calls for PJ walker or Grier to start "to see what we have"... Something. Anything.

Now the falcons will grab our quarterback with no good QB in sight for us anytime soon. They don't grow on trees folks. We were lucky to even have a chance at any of these lottery guys and we needed to find a way.

in the way they didnt get fined or in trouble for it, and they are picking ahead of us ended up able to parley that pick into more draft picks. worked out well to me.

People remember these tanking maneuvers for like a week or two then everybody doesn't care anymore. It's a goofy narrative to not tank. To tank a whole season? Maybe I could see the argument for why that's dumb. Tanking ONE game that could decide your franchises entire future? Yeah, you find a way to do that.

I'm tempted to make a new thread asking this but I'll restrain and just ask you, how would you feel if all the QBs were taken and we picked Patrick surtain and doubled down and sent our 2nd for JC jackson? I know, sounds crazy but if we don't get a QB I think I'd rather just go all out to repair the defense

Miami started the season 0-7.  You are right.

They ended the season 5-4.

Where do you see them tanking?  I swear.  At least pretend to glance at football records or something.

Twice last season this happened for two different teams.  Where a team tanked a single game.

The people responsible never coached another game.

Jets DC after looking like he intentionally went to lose the game vs Raiders at the last second.

Eagles HC.

    • Disclaimer:  In June, I am usually optimistic.  In October, a policeman with a bullhorn is telling me that I have a lot of life ahead of me and to think about my loved ones as I gaze down upon him from my rooftop.   Having said that, I think our offense (down the stretch) was good enough to play KC and Philly tough.  So how many games would this offense have won if they played the entire season like they did in November-January and if they had a better defense?   If you could stretch the last nine games over an entire season and put a solid defense on the other side, I see 5 wins becoming 7 or 8.  Down the stretch, the Panther D surrendered 30 points or more in 5 of the final 7 games and managed to win 2 of those 5.  If they can win 40% of games in which their defense surrenders 30 points or more, then the math indicates, had that been the case all season, the Panthers should have won 6 or 7 games with their defense surrendering 30+ points.   This season, we are much better at WR (TMac, Renfrow, Horn, and I expect XL to be a lot better).  Bryce is confident and now a leader.    The Achilles' heel of the 2024 defense, the DL, seems to be very solid.  We got back Horn and Jackson on the corners, Smith-Wade is improving better than expected, we signed a stud Safety.  Derrick Brown returns.  While the D is not there yet, it is going to be better.   So if we ended the second half of 2024 playing at a level that should have produced 6-7 wins, better WRs and a better defense could result in 9 wins or more.
