Please don't copy and paste a simulation.   I would like to know what people are thinking for the Panthers with one month left.   I will posting a new one each week subsequently leading up to the draft.  This is the first of four:

#8 Trey Lance: QB-NDSU (fingers crossed)

#39 Samuel Cosmi: LT-Texas (some mocks have Radunz being taken ahead of Cosmi, the two are interchangeable here)

#73 Paulson Adebo: CB- Stanford (BALLHAWK with WR hands!  Dude makes crazy picks 99% of other CBs would drop)

#114 Milton Williams: DT-La Tech. (3-tech) (Very twitchy/athletic DT--will get after the QB)

#152 Jacoby Stevens: S-LSU (hybird LB--think Chinn)

#194 Terron Jackson: DE-Coastal Carolina (undersized a bit, but you wouldn't know by looking a his production)

#222 Khyiris Tona: DT-BYU (1-tech) (We need another space-eater besides Roy).

#227 Ben Mason: FB- Michigan (Swiss-army knife out of the backfield and a solid STs guy.  Plus we lost Armah, the only FB we had)

I think Lawrence, Wilson, Fields, Sewell, Pitts, Smith, Parsons will go in that order before us, leaving us with a chance to grab a QB:

#8 Trey Lance, QB

#39 Teven Jenkins, OT / Dillon Radunz, OT /  Brady Christensen, OT - Best Tackle available

#73 Josh Myers, OC

#114 Quinn Meinerz

BPA from there on.

Meinerz has skyrocketed up draft boards.  I was mocking him at #114 a little while ago, but after his Pro Day, he may very well be gone.  I've seen him as high as the early 3rd now.  He ran a 4.8 40, BTW.  Crazy fast for an OL dude.   The other metrics were just as impressive.

I think we probably trade up to #5 with Cincy for Justin Fields. I think the Falcons will try to put together one last run with Matt Ryan.

I'm 50/50 on this.  I honestly think they will give Ryan one last shot, but it's going to be hard for them to pass up the hometown kid as the new face of the franchise.  If the Falcons manage a decent run over the next few years, they won't be in a cherry position like this draft to draft their heir apparent to Ryan.

If someone made me guess, I'd say they take BPA at #4 that's not a QB.

Yeah, I concede that it's very possible they take a QB I'm just going on a hunch that they won't. I mean, he threw for over 4500 yards and 26 TDs vs. 11 INTs last year.

As much as I dislike Matty Ice as a Falcon, he's actually a good QB and not the reason for their recent slump.  A horrible defense and key injuries have been their downfall.

If the 49ers takes Jones (as being speculated) and the Falcons pass up a QB, do we still trade up with Fields and Lance on the board?  The Dolphins and Lions aren't taking a QB.  We certainly would get one of them even with a trade up in front of us.  Honestly, that would be THE ideal scenario to unfold on draft night.

There's been reports that we really like Fields. Pretty much crickets on Lance. Thus far, this new regime hasn't seemed too adept at smokescreens.

Yep. If falcons dont take a qb we will likely throw an offer to the Bengals. They question is if they want Sewell. I think if thats their guy they stay put, despite Slater being available. The nfl is weird, some of these teams will draft for traits above all else. Plus sewell is only just now 20.

If hes not, i can see it happening.

Then again im not sure what detroit and the eagles want to do.

Assuming we stay at 8?

I think we'll move down a good bit and stock up on picks but for now...

#8 Rashawn Slater, OL, Northwestern

#39 Andre Cisco, S, Syracuse

#73 Kellen Mond, QB, Texas A&M

#114 Milton Williams, DL, La Tech

#152 Demetric Felton, WR, UCLA

#194 Robert Jones, OL, Middle Tennessee St

#222 Deommodore Lenoir, CB, Oregon

#227 DJ Daniel, CB, Georgia

Alright, here is my month out mock:

I think we are stuck with a shitty hand and need to just sit on it and ride it out. No real QBs to be had and Plenty of opportunity for a desperate team to fug up their future.
I want to trade back and fill roster spots. In earlier drafts, I wanted to snag a late round QB but as they’ve all gone back to school, I’m punting that until next year and looking for Crum or Ridder If we can’t make a move up for Rattler.

In this mock, I took a two of the offered trade backs wary on. I think we could realistically trade from 8 back to the early teens and then back to the late 20s. This nets us a top line prospect and a bounty of picks.

Top priority is line. Find mean nasty mother fuggers. Our line blows. It has blown. we either need to go back to the roid days or have a serious talent infusion.

26. Tevin Jenkins OT - plug in starter at RT if we think Moton can switch to LT.

39. Trey Smith OG - or creed Humphrey if he is there. He wasn’t. Smith is a plug in starter at guard.

51. Josh Myers IOL - guard for a year then Center when Paradis leaves.

55. Rondale Moore WR- Samuel replacement. I wasn’t targeting him but he was there in the sim. I don’t hate it.

73. Cameron McGrone LB- I’m sold on him being an above average prototypical MLB.

82. Ambry Thomas CB

113. Keith Taylor CB

We know cb is an issue. I double DJax is back after this year. I think these two CBs can both play in this league.

151. Jaylen Twyman DT - smaller framed pass rusher that can get to the QB. 3tech in our 4-3. I’d assume that at just under 300lbs, he’d make a good DE in a 3-man front.

193. Tommy Kraemer OG - depth with starter upside

222. Alaric Jackson OT - Depth with starter upside

226. Nick Eubanks TE - dart throw that doesn’t need to do much to be replace the guys we’ve been rolling out there.

I think this draft gives us 7 starters - almost all at a position of need. Think about how many starters we’ve pulled out of some of our best drafts. Even with teddy, we’d be in the hunt for the playoffs. Next year, we’d have a complete team in place to hopefully find that franchise QB.

Whew...and here I was thinking taking 3 OL was going overboard!  I agree, our OL has been horrible for a long time, but I'm not certain I would devote most of the draft there.  All in all, I wouldn't complain with this draft, especially if a QB isn't there at #8.  Yes, I am tempted to double dip at corner too.  You and I are in the same boat that Jackson isn't the solution and will be in another uniform once he hits FA.  He's not worth a big contract so we might as well back fill from this draft to groom for that inevitability.

Love the trade down idea. If you can trust the mock sites, going to 21 or 22 can get us a first in 2022 as ammo for next year QB possibly, and an extra 4th.

22- Teven Jenkins OT

39- Eric Stokes CB

73- Mond/Mills QB (so we don’t have to live through another Teddy season)

114- Ben Cleveland IOL

127- Demetric Felton RB/WR

152- JaCoby Stevens S

194- Bryce Thompson CB

223- Naquan Jones DT

226-Israel Mukuamu CB/S

    • You literally did it right there and didn't even remember it. Sorry long Friday.
    • TMac to finish up Feels good after pads came on. Physicality is a little different, playstyle is a little different. Refs let the players play, so he has to earn his stripes to get calls and just has to be better playing through contact. Focusing on staying confident and listening to coaches. Not much has changed for him, still trying to be his authentic self. Was asked about boxing practice he was seen doing. He's done that since he was a kid because his dad was a boxer and taught his siblings. Was the youngest and got beat up the most, but now he's the fourth of sixth children. Boxing helps with his cardio and being reactive with his hands to the ball + DB. Admits to struggling the first couple of days, hats off to the DB corps for making him better every single day but had his best day on Wednesday. Even the best get got. Just have to remain confident in preparation and abilities. Confidence will take you only so far, and that's where his resilience plays a factor. XL is authentic and great to have in the room. Can rely on him to be the same guy every day. They make each other better. Everybody feeds off of each other and when one person wins they all win. Happy to be a part of the receiver room. Was asked about how he was laughing harder than everybody else at XL getting his feet in the water off the back of the boat: "Man he needs to be stopped bro... He can't be serious but he was serious. It's all good." Playing against the increased amount of press he's facing in practice is helping him get more physical. His job is to catch the ball, so if it touches his hand he has to come down with it. Only catches with one hand if he needs to, but that gives the QB a bigger catch radius. Had a pregame routine where he did a 360 one-handed catch, but doesn't do it anymore. Working on being a pro: Getting into the facility early and getting treatment, eating better, etc. Just wants to win re: rookie goals. Anything he can do to help the team win. "I'm looking for to the season man and keep pounding."
    • DJ Wonnum up next Felt the defense came out ready to work at all levels and took over practice. New standard around here. Young guys have to know they're coming in to work. Last year was not the standard. Nic and Princely are fun. Different personalities but loves what they bring to the room. Sky is the limit for them. Nic sits next to Wonnum, Princeley sits next to Jones II. Allows them to be better mentors. Feels great and ready to go Incoom's athleticism allows him to bend and get low even to compensate for not being the biggest guy. Can set the edge. EDGE guys are helped when the ILBs can get home because it allows them to be a little more free while still in scheme. DB being back means his dominance is back. Can set the edge from the 3 or wherever he's at to make the runs bounce to the EDGE guys. Winning mentality and standard this year. Championship level from practice to how you live off of the field. Accept greatness and excellence with guys wanting to come to work every day. Not settling for anything less. Been in guys' shoes that are fighting for roster spots so he knows how to address them. Remembers not knowing what's next, especially as a rookie. Have a clear mind and ask the older guys a lot of questions. Has a good relationship already with Pat Jones II due to knowing each other and talking football all of the time. Can make hand gestures and know immediately what to adjust. Taking care of his body and excited to start the season. Getting it acclimated to football again by being able to tackle and bring players to the ground. Didn't know they were playing live tomorrow. Don't tell me it'll be "thud." Browns next week will allow them to hit somebody else and get a feel of what a different team is doing. Also allows the team to see where they're at on offense and defense. Ready to play football. Not worried about the QB matchup for Cleveland, going to play hard regardless of who is back there.
