I'm A Jets Fan Who's Hated Every QB We've Had Since Namath; Ask Me Anything

If the Jets dont build an offense around Wilson you will be looking for another QB 3 years from now.  Wilson has a big step up in comp coming and an injury history to boot.

Agreed.  No idea if he'll be any good.

I do know that current management has made offensive line a priority.

In the 4 drafts prior, 2015-2018, we drafted two OL, both in the 5th round.

In Joe Douglas's (current GM) first draft, his first two picks were OL/WR.

Medicare supplement plans?  Pretty well targeted to the only people who still remember/care about Joe Namath.

Namath's HBO documentary was awesome.

He's a great story, an icon for the league and obviously the Jets.

It's depressing that all these years later, he's still the face of the franchise.  The Suzy Kolbert thing didn't help, either.

I think Douglas is going to be a pretty good GM.

Lord knows you haven't had that in a while.

You spelled "ever" wrong, sir.

Fair enough 😄

I'm curious what your opinion of Robert Saleh is vs the other choices (if I recall correctly, there were many).

Also wondering if you had an opinion of Matt Rhule given that he was almost the Jets coach a while back.

    • Because I’ve followed the Panthers for 26 years. 28 if you count the announcement in Charlotte. I owned PSLs for 18 of those years. I have forgotten more Panthers football than you will ever learn. And I’m analyzing this game with a clear brain, not like a 13 year old whose on his 2nd season and likely a bandwagon fan of one or two players.   The Panthers may win, who knows but from a logical stand point it doesn’t look that way, and I’m not going to trick myself into some Cinderella story daydream some fantasy outcome because I want them to win.
    • Yeah that's more my impression as well.  I think there could be some niche rivalries pertaining to specific things (like football as you mentioned, or BBQ as someone else did) but I've never felt there was this overall negative sentiment towards NC as a whole.

Here is Person's take on it (pay wall)  https://theathletic.com/2828732/2021/09/15/person-what-happened-to-the-keep-pounding-chant-for-the-panthers-in-week-1-and-will-it-return/ <snippet> There are a few things in Charlotte that should not be messed with: craft breweries, Bojangles and bankers’ hours. As for the local football team, at least two things are generally considered sacred — natural grass and anything related to Sam Mills. And in the space of a few months, the Panthers have botched both of them. On the same day the Panthers played their first regular-season game on artificial turf at Bank of America Stadium, they ditched the coordinated “Keep Pounding” pre-game chant that both fired up the home crowd and paid homage to Mills, the franchise’s only player to have his number (51) retired. It’s unclear whether it was an oversight by the team’s entertainment division or the Panthers simply decided to do away with what’s become a popular part of the game-day experience. As of Wednesday afternoon, team officials were mum on what happened before Sunday’s opener against the Jets. Update: A Panthers spokesman said the goal is to have the “Keep Pounding” chant evolve to the point where fans don’t need any prompting to start it. The team plans to coordinate the chant for this week’s game against the Saints, but won’t necessarily do so for every home game.
