I'll be happy with Sewell or Lance; Slater as a distant 3rd.  Anything else is going to be somewhat of a letdown.  If we take a skill position without a trade down, I'm throwing something at the TV.

Love Lance’s potential, but do you think we should get him at 8? I wouldn’t be upset with it just curious. My order is Sewell, Fields, and then maybe trade down? I need to watch more film of Slater something about him is throwing me off for the number 8 pick...

He has the most upside of the 'big 4'.   His biggest knock is his not ready to start now.  With Darnold here, he wouldn't have to AND we won't have to fall back on Teddy either.  Slater I'm okay with, just not at #8.  If we move back 3-4 spots and he's still there, I'm good with it.  I agree, I think he's a better athlete than a completely rounded OT.  Having two franchise QBs on rookie deals sets us up for big things in two years when Darnold is set to be a FA.  Most teams would be  jealous to be in such a situation.

I was really opposed to an OT with our first round pick, but now Darnold is here, It's right there at the top of the list.  If we do draft Sewell, I'll be very happy.

Current pff line grades. Jesus i wouldn't be upset with 3 or so OL selections in the draft. We only have 1 (Moton) starter quality OL on our roster. Yikes.

Dennis Daley - 64

Pat Elflein - 48

Cameron Erving - 58

Mike Horton - n/a

Martez Ivey - n/a

Matt Kaskey - n/a

Greg Little - 4.4  (you missed something)

Aaron Monteiro - n/a

Taylor Moton - 81

Matt Paradis - 63

Trent Scott - 60

Sam Tecklenburg - n/a

John Miller - 61

There, that seems more accurate.

We're in a terrific position to build up our o-line with this draft. Our first pick could reasonably be the best LT in the draft, and our second pick could be the best OG prospect in Alijah Vera-Tucker. Building a great o-line will help us to properly evaluate Darnold, and he won't have the excuse of the o-line not protecting him. Protect Darnold and if dump him if he poops the bed this coming season.

I like this too. But There is a good chance tucker might not make it to our second round pick. I like the idea of grabbing creed Humphrey in the second and playing him a guard this season and then he could slide over to center next year once we dump paradis. Slater and Humphrey are brickwall OL to me. O line instantly becomes a strength.

I know we need at least a left tackle and guard in this draft and I wouldn't be upset if we drafted a second guard or center as well. Give me sewell or slater in the first, ben cleveland or Quinn meinerz in the 2nd or 3rd would prefer both. Others to look at if sewell and slater are gone draft radunz in the 2nd. Also mid t late round interior lineman trey hill, jack anderson, david moore, deonte brown

Yes, we need OL, but if you look at the DB situation, we are not in a good, long-term place.   We need to draft a DB or 2 as well--30+ year old CBs,  Jackson in a contract year---Burris, Franklin, and Robinson at S (when Chinn is at LB)....

Hopefully Verge says differently, but I just don't think we have much of a shot here at Sewell. I just can't see 7 teams passing on this guy. How often do you see this talented and NFL ready LT's? I will be ecstatic if we some how land Sewell.

It seems pretty settled--we are fairly certain that 4 QBs go before us, a LT, Pitts, and maybe Chase.

He's far more potential than many are admitting.

His technique needs a lot of work and, to be honest, he doesn't have a prototypical NFL OT build.

I'm not saying he's a bad player, but he's not this 'generational' prospect many are making him out to be imo.

If both Pitts/Sewell are on the board at 8, it would be wet dream scenario.

I have no clue what they would do.

I’m going to be over the moon if we get either. I’d be perfectly happy with Slater too, but Pitts and Sewell are the type of prospects that we have no business having a chance at.

    • I like the approach Morgan takes in free agency where we fill holes with at least serviceable players and use the draft for BPA. So, I expect us to bring in a Safety, 1 really good LB and 1 kinda so so vet LB in case they lose faith in Wallace, an edge rusher, and with ickey's injury I think we will be the team that overpays for a LT like Rasheed Walker with the plan to move him to RT depending on Ickey's health and how long Moton wants to play.
    • Look at Rashid Saheed contract for 2024. He was more productive than Coker but probably a good reference. I think it was 1 year 5.2 million.
    • I expect the same strategy as we did last year. 3 year deals for guys around 25 to 28 years old and have the cap number be lower in 2026 and back load the contracts for 2027 and 2028 when our cap space is 100 million in 2027 and 360 million in 2028. With the years of terrible drafting this team had under Rhule and Fitterer and the lack of picks from all the panic QB trades has made it where we have few long-term contract commitments on the roster.  I'm sure there's probably some restructures and cuts we can make to give ourselves some more room this year if we need it but overall, our cap situation is in a good spot under Dan and Brandt.  I think we'll be pretty big spenders again this year. With us making the playoffs and being in a weak division I see Morgan being pretty aggressive this offseason.
