We haven't picked up DJ Moore's either, but both are expected.

Maybe or maybe they want a long term deal with Moore or maybe they will let him go. Rhule specifically said “we haven’t done anything with that yet” when asked about Darnold’s 5th year option. There was no we are going to soon or we plan on it. I think they are waiting to see how the draft falls... Just my opinion though.

I'm not so high on Fields, Darnold, or Teddy at this point.

I think if you draft Fields you have 3 bad options.

Take a LT so when we're bad this year we have a shot at a good QB next draft.

Who in the next class is that superior to Fields and Darnold? I won’t ask about Teddy because it’s going to be a long list.

Honestly I don't think the difference between Teddy and Darnold is there.

People being excited about Darnold is baffling to me. Based on what? Him not being in New York? Teddy regressed from New Orleans to Carolina.

Are we excited because Tannehill got better? Tannehill showed that he had it plenty of games before he went to the Titans. When has Darnold shown anything closed to that.

If Sam Darnold is our QB last year it's a tough argument to say we're better than a 5 win team.

And people are thrilled to have Darnold, because they believe he makes a playoff team. But he doesn't make us a Super Bowl team which leaves us stuck in QB hell of being a forever Wild Card team without the ability to make it to the NFC Championship. Isn't that the hell everyone was afraid of with Teddy?

And our savior is a QB whose stock seems to be falling headed into the draft? It worked out so well for us with Greg Little in a similar scenario.

I can't imagine being in a situation where we have a Top 10 pick, a 2nd, 4th, 6th, 2 bad contracts, and a rookie contract invested in 3 bad QBs.

But anything for a QB! Jon Gruden in his last year in Tampa is absolutely envious of our QB situation and thinks we could take a QB with our first 6 picks!

If we draft a QB in the 1st everyone in the organization should be fired unless it's Lawrence or Wilson without a trade

1) I’m not thrilled about Darnold. He’s just better than Teddy. Teddy just got a career high in touchdown passes of like 15 or 16. Darnold threw more than that with less talent in New York twice. It’s not going to be worse than Teddy. I don’t necessarily think this means playoffs. You just don’t want to see Teddy for how he performed because he went to a college you liked.
2) I asked who you thought was outright better from this next class after this years class? Going to have to be top 3 to get Howell or Rattler as of right now. We aren’t going to be bad enough for that.
3) Wilson is no more of a lock than Fields or Lance or Jones. I get the Lawrence love.
3) It’s weird to compare Fields to Little. Why not compare Fields to Watson when his stock was falling? Why not to ARodgers when his stock fell going into the draft and people passed on him?

You wrote a bunch of words to completely duck the only question I asked.

Aaron Rodgers and Lamar Jackson’s stock fell in the draft. We are talking about a QB at 8, it’s not that huge of a drop IF he is even there. 8 is earlier than Mahomes and Watson were drafted not too long ago. I agree on not being sold on Darnold, he was a turnover machine in college and continued this trend in the NFL (granted it was in a tough situation).
Also only 2 teams are going to make the Super Bowl. If Darnold is good enough to consistently get us to the playoffs (which I’m pretty skeptical of) that’s a good place to be. Hell we are just trying to have back to back winning seasons for the first time in forever. Win a couple games and suddenly were are in the big game again.

What? If Fields had returned to Ohio State he would be the clear favorite to go #1 next year.

If the Panthers feel he can be a possible franchise QB and he’s there at 8, we have to take him. Darnold panning out isn’t a sure thing by any means.

Let Sam have his chance, and if he plays alright, trade one of them.  Sometimes you have to throw some darts before you get your guy. Either of these kids could end up being out guy for the next decade.

Yeah if a team is picking this high and doesn’t have an established franchise QB, they should always be considering drafting one, especially if one they like falls to them.

Darnold panning out is almost assuredly not going to happen.

I actually don't mind taking a QB at 8, the real frustration is that we wasted draft capital and CAP trading for a QB before the draft.

We talk all the time about hating Marty for bad asset management. If we draft a QB at 8 it doesn't bode well for this group being any better than the last.

I have a lot more faith in this front office than I did Hurney. If you really want to know what I think was the domino that started all this, it was signing Teddy. Whether that was Rhules doing or Hurneys, it has totally put us in QB purgatory the last two seasons.

But I do agree with your last statement, at least part of it. I think Darnold alone will win us a few games Teddy couldn’t, but if we really aren’t adding pieces to the OL or secondary, we won’t be that much better.

I think the frustrating part for me, is if we're worried about being stuck in QB purgatory, then adding Darnold and winning another game or two a year doesn't help.

I'd rather have rolled with Teddy, PJ, and Will another year than waste draft picks and cap on a QB whose simply been brutal his entire career. He's been worse for his offense than Teddy has when you don't purely look at TDs from the QB.

We'd have been better of praying Fields or Lance fall to us, or taking a guy in the 2nd at QB wasting time with Darnold and the cap and picks that went with it.

I don't like Fields as a prospect, so I've been harsh on him, but he hasn't failed in the NFL for 3 years.

I just don't get the Darnold love. People say Darnold didn't have weapons in NY, but some of that is on him. Josh McCown had no problems making Robby look decent, and neither did Teddy. And the passing game is part of the reason Bell was so much worse there too. Crowder was better elsewhere as well.

People hated Teddy because he was nothing, but also not Cam.

People are loving Darnold because he is nothing, but not Teddy.

I want a LT because at least we can suck and protect someone we draft next year.
