Looks like the canes reached a deal with coach for 3 years worth 1.8 mil a year.

edit:  Apologies guys, I saw a breaking news post on the topic on Facebook and got excited. Looks like things aren’t complete yet.

If I’d realized it was some insight on what’s being worked I would have added it to the existing thread.

I hope they get this done quickly. I’d hate to see him coaching anyone else but Carolina.

3 years/$5.4m ($1.8m per)

"If the deal gets finalized at the terms that Friedman reported, it’s definitely a below-market price tag as veteran head coaches have been able to command twice that much or more in recent years.  While Brind’Amour – who has led Carolina to a 120-64-20 record – doesn’t have quite the track record that coaches like Mike Babcock, Alain Vigneault Claude Julien, Barry Trotz, Todd McLellan, and Peter Laviolette all had at the time of their hires (where they received at least $4MM), it stands to reason that he could have commanded considerably more had he hit the open market"

To me, this tracks with earlier reports about the hold up being Rod wanting the assistants and trainers taken care of first.

With his name and track record, RBA could easily pull $5m/yr if his agent is worth their salt. But, he knows the value of the organization behind him. And he is willing to take a pay cut if it means others get a raise.

It's never a good sign when you have a head coach worth far more than the offer reported.

It's also not a good sign when an article is written and he's lumped in with a list of re-tread head coaches (the NHL is nothing but re-tread head coaches).

Mike Babcock, Alain Vigneault Claude Julien, Barry Trotz, Todd McLellan, and Peter Laviolette all had at the time of their hires (where they received at least $4MM), it stands to reason that he could have commanded considerably more had he hit the open market"

Yeah, there's not a guy on this list I'd want coaching the Canes.

Um you guys didn't watch Roddy's interview the other day did you?  He came out and said he didn't want to coach anywhere else and something should be done soon.  We aren't losing Rod.  The man is a Cane through and through.  Rod is the type of man that would take less to make sure all his staff got paid.  He's the freaking man.

The one. The only.  Canes legend.  Caniac belove'd.

Sweet mana to our hockey veins.  The pressure that causes the current that causes the storm that causes the surge.

Rod the fckin the Bod aka Roddy B aka RBA to those lazy Caniac wanksters.

Let's fuggin Go!
