Darnold's QBR was higher than Tannehill's

Thats a good point, but I would disagree a bit. I think they liked Sam better than the value of Fields at that draft position.

Darnold should be further along from 3 years of NFL experience vs a rookie Fields. I'm not sure they expected him to be there at 8 though.

Another fine example of why Sam could improve this year. I mean if that Tannyhill character can do it, so can Sam.

Now prepare yourself for the inevitable but, but Sam sucks crowd. They all just know he is destined to fail. You can't be allowed to buoy folks enthusiasm for Sam. Check outside your window for those dark SUVs. lol

Sam has got all the physical tools to be one of the best QBs in the NFL.  Hes got a rocket for an arm, quick release, goes thru his progressions, is mobile...its just the menal aspect of the game that he needs to work on.  That, and not being in a dogshit system and organization like the Jets.  I fully expect him to break out like crazy this year.  I really hope I am right.  I just see no way he is worse than he was in NY.  Hes got all the tools to put it together, and I think Brady is going to do the best coaching of his career to ensure Sam and the Panthers offense kick major ass this year.

I think they didn't keep a backup plan on the roster for a reason. They must like next years prospects better than Justin Fields if that was the case

Why can't it be as simple as. They like Sam + Horn better than any QB in this class. After all, everyone knows 2 is better than 1.

Exactly, he should be...

They did expect him to be there. If you watch the Panthers Confidential Matt Rhule did a mock draft for Tepper and Fitt and mocked him to be available. Him being there was not a surprise.

Yeah, that is one of the main reason some folks are up in arms. We knew Fields would be there, and we passed.

We are going to be hearing about this one for years.

Im excited. He's boom or bust. Either we got a 23 year old Franchise QB or we will get a top 3 draft pick.

You left out the most likely scenario, Darnold plays good at times and poorly at times. We finish with around 7 wins and pick in the 13-17 range.

This is the season for hope...post draft.... OTAs....new players.  We have a new QB, new LB, D-lineman, new DBs, new TEs, new receivers, and new help on the o-line.  It feels like Christmas.

I'm going to enjoy it while we can.   Come fall, I know it will hit the wall of reality, but for now, there's hope.

One thing, he's had  hot streaks, particularly late in the season.  His rookie season last 4 games  he had 6 td to 1 int and a 99.1 QB rating, 64% cmp%, 7.4 yards per attempt.  His second year,  the last 8 games of 2018 he had a 94.5 QBR, 13 TDs 4 Ints 61.8 cmp% and 7.4 yard per attempt.

And then again last year he beat two winning/playoff teams to take the jets out of the #1 spot.

Hopefully we lengthen the hot streaks.

Exactly what does this entail?  How does he improve it?

Film study, learn from his mistakes, (which is part of film study) and positive reps. Throw is good communication with both his receivers, and his coaches. And presto chango. Quality QB.

Just that easy. lol

Are you trying to trigger the resident haters even more?

    • Who were we going to trade up with? The Dolphins wanted Proctor, the Rams were vehement on taking Ty Simpson, the Ravens wanted Ioane, and the Bucs werent trading with us except for maybe a kings ransom. Even if we wanted to move, we had no partner. Moot point.
    • Devin Lloyd is a stud lb but who is next to him? Prince and Nic should improve. Lee was super value but i am not counting this fourth round chicken yet. I would expect some improvement; hope to eat my words w/ a top ten D.
    • I mean I agree about diminished Cam probably still being viable. Even though it gave a preview of how teams would defend the pass against a limited QB. There was an issue with the upcoming contract he was due to get and his expectations vs the new reality of his physical status - that people tend to  overlook when looking back on it  It had an effect on things I believe   But I do have to ask… what about Tepper’s second major move? fuging clueless   I mean I would take even an injured  Cam over Bryce all day long.
