Yeah, Sam will need to make his best case this season for being signed to a long term contract.  Otherwise, we'll be in the same situation we were with Cam two years ago, reluctant to commit big dollars to someone we weren't sure was the answer at QB.

It will be an average so/so performance consisting of 1 or 2 series that will lead to overreaction and divisiveness in the Huddle Universe

half the board will rip Darnold by only looking at the bad passes or decisions.

half the board will anoint him and buy fake “100% authentic” jerseys due to a couple highlight plays

half will look at the stat lines and rip him because it was just average so/so

In simple terms, a normal Huddle weekend had by all.

If Darnold fails, I will be curious to see if the FO/staff continues to believe that dumpster diving is the path to finding a QB.

    • Question to the posters on this thread because you are knowledgeable--I love watching and pull for the Canes, but I never played so I don't have the understanding I had when I played football then watched it.  Having said that, Do you think we are weak at Center?  I see the team to be pretty strong on the wings, promising defense, and weak at Goalie.  It would be ideal if the Canes had 1 more position to upgrade, not 2.  I don't think you can count on Anderson to play a full season and he is 35.  However, are we solid at Center in your view?
    • Couldn't agree more, Kooch is erratic and Freddy is fragile, maybe save the remaining cap space for a goalie stud at the deadline
    • There is one play that sold me-- it was around 2:38, I think.  It was 4th and 1 and the QB telegraphed and threw the ball out wide to TMac.  He had no blocking (the TE was very late) and four defenders collapsed on TMac behind the LOS. They seemed to know it was coming.  He got hit behind the LOS and battled through several hits to get three yards.  THAT play showed me his fire.
