I’ll have to dig way back (huddle vets, not panther vets. My bad). And it wasn’t necessarily said outright, but it’s when the reports were Robby wanted out. It was shortly after the trade for Darnold. There were a few “it looks like Robby wants out of Carolina. I bet I know why.” and “Robby has already had to play with Darnold. I don’t blame he for wanting to go somewhere else” comments being littered at that time.

Those comments were still here a few days ago and even in the signing thread yesterday.

It’s just crazy where people generate these ideas from. Which is why I’ve been going back and forth with one poster in particular saying “yes, you are entitled to your opinion. But when your opinion is ‘oh Robby wants out based on nothing? Oh bet it’s true. I bet it’s cause he hates Darnold” I just can’t help but call out the nonsense.

The thing that pissed me off so royally about all that poo was that it was a rumor primarily started by our own fanbase, based on no factual/verifiable or even reasonable rumor mill information. We had rumblings from a lot of areas about Cam's last year and him potentially wanting a new deal. There was some media smoke and inside sources that at least spoke to that.

This Robby nonsense was 100% self inflicted wounds. It was our fanbase creating an issue where none existed at all. Even worse, you still have people doubling down on this after it was so thoroughly proven incorrect over the past couple of days.

Edit: Even worse, was some of the Sunshine Squad that cry from thread to thread in this forum about all the negativity that kept perpetuating this idiotic and harmful narrative. What the fug kind of fan pushes some poo like that?

Agreed. And it all stemmed from him not showing up to optional workouts before camp. Dudes a vet. There were pictures of him golfing. He was obviously like “hmm. I think I’ll just stay on vacation for a little bit longer” but somehow that turned into him demanding a trade behind closed doors.

But hey, maybe we are wrong and he knows something you and I don’t. Maybe the coaching staff have already told him not to worry about Darnold because PJ will be our starter so Robby decided to stay... /s

It wasn't just him, poo.....there were a lot of them. Most of them crawled away into their little corners to pretend they never said that poo.

The hysteria over missing optional workouts was classic Huddle overreaction. OPTIONAL

Those "Huddle vets" began speculating when Robby did not attend OTAs.  They had no sources either. No foundation for their remarks.  Just made it up. Don't know why people here (or anywhere) like to make up things that are negative about someone else.  Nor do I understand why people like to repeat them.

I think you are missing what I was saying. I was poking fun at their overreaction. Not saying I actually believed them.

It was sarcasm. I’ve been calling their theories stupid for months now regarding this lol

At this point it's repeating it to call them out on their idiocy. I will let it go after this thread, as only one of them had the nuts to show their faces in any of the post-signing Robby threads and not a single one of them had the nuts to say they were wrong.

/rant

I don't get upset about most of the Huddle nonsense but watching our own fans start that rumor and spread it pissed me off.

    • A winning record would be nice, but I still have us winning around the 6 to 8 game mark. Realistically we should beat the Jets and Saints, that gets us to 5 wins. After that, we have to face a lot of potential play off teams and our divisional opponents. I think we’ll win 1 or 2 of those games to take us to 6 or 7 wins, perhaps 8 wins if we can spring a further surprise.  Is that enough progress for head coach and QB? I’m not sure, it will depend on performances and output. That said, it’s nice to be back in a position where we are thinking about the play offs.
    • I would tend to agree about not falling into the trap and paying a below average QB, but sometimes situations can “force” a team to pay that QB. For example, if we play ourselves into a 9-8 like record, then what options will we have in the draft? Or do we avoid the draft and trade for or sign someone in free agency?  I’m not convinced by the 2026 QB draft class. There’s some intriguing prospects but no one that really screams “draft me”. I’m not sure we’ve got anyone really that stands out as a trade candidate or free agent signing. So although we might not want to commit a big money contract to Young, him playing well and showing progress might force the team’s hand.
    • Realistically we would be looking at no more than a mid round pick for Dowdle or Chuba. Are we really that desperate for a mid round pick? Not really. I would much prefer us utilise the two RBs in a 1-2 punch similar to how we used D-Will and Stewart. After all, Bryce is not Drew Brees. He won’t throw for 300+ yards and carry the team consistently as a passer. So having a strong running game with a 1-2 punch will be beneficial to him, and it will also be beneficial to the RBs because we can spell them and not overwork them.
