Seen a lot of hurt feelings and poo posting on here lately. Am I not happy about the last 3 games after our first 3? Yes of course I am, but I’m not letting it get under my skin or ruin how I perceived the Panthers this season and next.

I posted on here shortly after Rhule took over that the Panthers were in a 3 year rebuild and they knew it too, I pointed out various personnel moves and contracts which all coincided with a 3 year window. I also noted that the Panthers aren’t looking to compete with Brady as much as they are looking to out last him. 
 

the Panthers looked to be well ahead of schedule over the first 3 games this season, but the offensive line has since proved otherwise.

We still sit another year and a half left in this rebuild. Am I excited about having to wait another Year and a half to see where we really stand? Nope, but getting up set that we looked to be ahead of schedule and then realizing we aren’t isn’t the worse thing in the world, if we end the season 8-9 or 9-8 that will still be a huge improvement over last year. We are just looking to make progress over the previous season. 
 

when progress ends that’s when we really need to be concerned.

We looked ahead of schedule vs a Jets team with a first time head coach and rookie QB. We beat New Orleans at home while 7-8 of their coaches were out and no Marshon Lattimore. Houston is a terrible team with a rookie Qb and terrible rookie Head coach. We couldn’t even beat a rookie Meme Eagles head coach and Jalen Hurts starting his 9th career NFL game.

I don’t think it takes 3 years to put together a good football team in the NFL….if you hire the right people.  

now to be be legit contenders? Yes.  It takes time.  

we should IMO look better than we do overall on offense.   We are have done a poor job IMO when it comes to the most important aspects of building a team.  OL and QB.  And you have to start there day 1. At the current pace and we just going to start addressing it in year 3.  That’s a poor plan.

      The year he had another edge rusher opposite him in Reddick, Reddick ended up having more sacks. Burns was good at rushing the passer here but he was taken out of plays far too often by a single TE or you'd never even known he was in the game at all.  The Rams offer was equivalent to prime Khalil Mack or a TJ Watt. Those guys single handedly took over games and stopped drives. I can't remember a game Burns ever did that. Do we wish we had the level of production hes giving right now? Of course. Do I think we'd have it here. No.  At the time, his production was on par with Reddick, not Parsons. Pay production and incentivise potential.

      Technically our guys are in the top 6 in sacks for rookies and Scourton is tied for the lead.

      That's why so many said he wasn't worth it here, there was only DB and it wasn't enough. If Burns is feasting then the other guys in NY are doing enough already, Burns is just collecting the stats. It's what he eas built for and is finally in his perfect space to succeed. Im not as in on the new guys yet. More is an understatement but the good news is that they are rookies.
