Trading for Deshaun Watson could set the Panthers back many years

We’re their is smoke their is fire and you think Roger is going to overlook that many cases

Watson might be found guilty, and he could be put on the exempt list. Maybe those women are all telling the truth, or maybe they are lying, or maybe some are truthful and some are lying. This all has to be sorted out in the future.

This has just as good a chance of

making anything the Browns did in a 5 year span.  Making them look like a smart dynasty

as it does

him starting next year and we have a winning record

The variables are vast. It could be the move that elevates our franchise to the lofty heights we desire, it could be the move that sets us onto a perpetual cellar dweller path or anything in between.

Quite honestly, I don't even have a particularly strong opinion about it anymore. If it happens, I guess I will see how it works out. If it doesn't happen, I guess I will see how it works out.

I hate to be apathetic to the idea(pro or con) but I am not even sure where our franchise is headed at the moment. Even more unfortunately, I am not sure they are very sure where they are headed.

I think it’s pretty clear giving up a large amount of assets for a QB accused of being a sexual predator, who might not see the field for what could be years, is not a good idea. I hoped my post would sway people who were on the fence. I think we as fans should be united in our opposition for trading for Watson. Yes we all want to win, but this would be a knee jerk move that wouldn’t solve the other many problems the Panthers have. It would be a horrible decision and I hope the team is not really considering it, despite how bad the team has turned out to be.

The team will be better served by having high draft picks and not having the distraction of wondering if and when Watson will finally play football again.

This isn’t a knee jerk move they’ve been wanting to do this since the off-season

I liked him before all this and if you said we could add a Pro Bowl QB that would have been great but now their is just to many things that could go wrong and set this team back years with giving up multiple first round picks and the NFL loves to look politically correct on these issues. So I don’t think it’s worth the risk

Making this trade in the middle of the season after a pathetic miserable loss would be a knee jerk move. They should not be making these major decisions mid season because who knows what the team will even look like if/when Watson would be able to play again. Darnold sucks, Joe Brady is probably out, hell if the team has truly given up like they did today, Rhule is probably gone too.

If they wanted a reason to pull the trigger, today was it.

Today shows that Rhule made piss poor a personnel decision in the way he handled the QB position. Rhule knew Tepper wanted a star QB. Rhule knew Tepper wanted someone the caliber of Watson. Rhule decided to dumpster dive and pulled Sam out hoping for 'maybe good enough'. Rhule failed to deliver. Now it's time for the boss man to get what he wants.

One of the most reactionary fanbases calling this move reactionary is hilarious. He is a top 5 qb in the nfl. Whatever happens to anybody else doesn’t change that. They’ve been wanting him for months to the point that it’s been said that the deal was all but done before all that mess came out. If the dolphins and the panthers are really trying to do this then I’m going to assume Tepper knows that deshaun is not going to prison. You don’t put up that kind of draft capital and players without being damn sure you know what’s happening and the league knows what’s happening. Tepper isn’t an idiot.

This is entertainment, it’s sports. There is a known rapist playing qb in Pittsburg and nobody fuging talks about it. The same people feigning moral outrage probably voted for trump or Biden who are known sexual predators and pedophiles. They have no problems voting these psychos into one of the most powerful positions in the world but the qb for their favorite sports team is where they draw the line. It’s total hypocrisy. People can leave if this happens or freak out about players and draft picks but I recognize this for what it is. It’s a sport. It’s just entertainment.

In this game you need a top 10 qb to be a top 10 team. This isn’t the old nfl where you can win it all with a strong run game and a game manager. You have to make moves to get an elite qb when opportunities like this come up.

    • Yeah okay. We as an organization have been more patient with him than many. And there has been a small parade of guys drafted since he was, also to bad teams, that have passed him. Some have lapped him. As a fan I am out of patience but he gets this year it is out of my hands always has been. I just hope the bar is higher than it has been for him.    FWIW, XL dropped two passes last year. He did do some other bad stuff, just saying.
    • Except it takes those QB's a few years to develop because they needed to learn the mental side of the game and have it catch up to their physical attributes. Bryce was supposed to be a QB savant who already had a fully developed mental side of the game and that was going to make up for his lack of physical ability.  And his lack of NFL level QB physical traits has been clear as day to anyone who has watched him the last 3 years, mainly, he just doesn't have an NFL arm, he can't zip the ball into tight spaces or throw on a line down the field like is needed at this level.
    • Don’t recall seeing many of his interviews but what strikes me is that he engages and goes in depth. Even with the cliche answers as referenced by OP come across somewhat thoughtful.  Very likable personality despite being someone who can crush an average person like I can crush a paper cup. I knew Motons mother had a career at MSU but was looking on the google and found that Mushin Muhammad personally knew Motons grandfather.   His late grandfather was a professor at MSU.   Cool guy.  Interesting family and small world.
