Revisiting Brown vs Simmons...

Just because the game is on I thought I would spark up an age old debate. I like to think most people wanted Brown but Simmons had a lot of support. I like to think it was 60/40 split. I was in the Simmons camp, I will concede Brown has been pretty solid. A force in the run game and will occasionally get those coverage sacks.

Simmons started off very slow wit h a staff that had no idea what to do with him but he turned it on late. Has proven to be a versatile chess piece whom many said we got the poor man's Simmons in Chinn(they booth look equal to me) so hindsight and all who would you rather have?

Yes I know Chinn makes it look like we made the right decision but also Simmons plays more like a linebacker rusher than Chinn who plays more safety coverage lb specialist. They are both chess pieces but not in the exact same mold. Have at it.

We have Reddick.

To me, they were just about carbon copies of each other.

Having both of them here now would be pretty cool but they didn't seem to wreak havoc together in AZ.

It feels like Simmons just picked up where Reddick left off.

Not sure reddick is like Simmons as Simmons can play safety and cover... reddick is mostly a pass rusher..

We made the right choice based on our need. Real question to me would be is if we passed on Herbert if he fell to 8

Brown was a good pick but man I wish Herbert would have fell.

Herbert wasn't available to us so it's kinda irrelevant...

We easily could’ve traded up with Detroit or especially NYG to get Herbert. Rhule was so confident in Teddy Bridgwater so he didn’t.

    • I think you should see the OP for pretty big reasons why that is a completely incorrect take given this is a Dave Canales team.
    • TMac is a good player and would've been the right pick if our QB could throw a ball farther than 40 yards. For this team's current build (run first, game management passing attack) and the fact that our TE's are laughably bad - the five on our roster have combined for less than 600 yards total, with 3 TDs - Warren should've been the pick.
    • If anyone feels like they can't have a conversation about Bryce Young nearly three full seasons into his career maybe assess why and how these conversations end this way instead of looking to shoot the messenger. Why is it okay to label anyone else on the team or coaching staff trash? Folks on the huddle and across the fanbase on social media have fully thrown anyone and everyone including rookie 8th overall pick TMac fully under the bus multiple times this season. But some of you guys apparently expect a pat on the back because Bryce Young successfully evaded a few potential sacks while Tyler Shough got consumed by our pass rush throughout the game and still had a superior performance. The state of this division is hilariously mediocre at best. Bryce Young is the only player on this roster who is allowed to have the lowest bar possible yet we have invested the most resources in him. It's lunacy.
