Chinn is doing everything in our defense Simmons would (and doing it better). The real problem is Brown hasn't become a Vita Vea level player. You just can't run on the Bucs (well, unless you're Khalil Herbert).

Vita Vea wasn't Vita till his 3rd season and then he got hurt so nfl fans really hadn't noticed him... also helps he has Suh next to him.

You don’t draft a “run stuffing” DT that isn’t capable of being a threat rushing the passer with the 7th overall pick.

Run stuffer who is top 10 in pass rush win % among DTs this year? Okay...

Brown was a good pick but man I wish Herbert would have fell.

My brother is a long time dolphins fan & he whines every time San Diego gets a win. They were comparing Herbert to Marino coming out of college with size & strength. He said the GM at dolphins is a basket case & would like just one draft & free agency to get some players for the dolphins.

How many sacks? Two, thru seven games. Only DTs like Aaron Donald, Warren Sapp, Ndamukong Suh, Leonard Williams, Fletcher Cox, Haloti Ngata, Chris Jones, Richard Seymour, John Randle and Gerald McCoy should go that high in the draft. And a couple of them didn’t even go that high.

Derrick Brown isn’t Star Lotulelei or Vita Vea. Star and Vita have little sacks but they garner so much attention.

McCoy, Butler and Poe combined for 15 sacks in 2019. The team was 2nd in sacks in the NFL with 53. How did that defense do again?

Exactly. So why is sacks the most important thing again?

You’re really trying to compare a Derrick Brown who’s in his 2nd year and was last year’s 7th overall pick to a bust in Vernon Butler and two old broken players in Poe and McCoy of 2019? McCoy and Poe were some of the best DTs in their 2nd season. Brown is just a faster Dexter Lawrence. If you want to see him have a good career, you’d have to draft a pass rushing DT to play next to him.

No. I gave a perfect example to show your “sacks is all that matters” theory is “chuck-like”. A very well known example to everyone on here. Those are your words.

Suh had 4 sacks his second season. Did he suck?

Star Lotuleilei was a top 5 prospect (well worth it) before he had that heart issue crop up pre draft

    • The last thing I will say, because I'm not going down this Bryce Young rabbit hole again, especially with said poster: You guys aren't the only people who see what you see.  Stop focusing on small minority of fans and voices.  The media has accepted Bryce Young isn't anything more than a game-manager at best.  You can literally look up "Bryce Young Franchise QB" and the only thing that pops up is that the Panthers MAY be viewing him as one, but no media outlet supports it.  The vast majority of fans accept he won't ever be the guy. It is such a stupid conversation for this reason.  You guys get so tripped up over such a small minority.  Bryce Young SUCKS.  We get it.   And feel free to continue to converse about it.  It is a discussion forum.  Have at it.  But can we just stop using words like "retard" to describe people who might not want to go as far as you all do?  Or acting like you have some unique ability to see things in the game that others can't?  There is no "mythos" around Bryce Young except in your head.
    • Only thing I’ve seen that says it on is TWSN sports which is notorious for clickbait titles and in the articles it usually says something like this is a prediction not a report even though the title of the article sounds definitive.
    • Sorry, someone probably said this, but I'm not going back over 9 pages 😃 QBs get an outsized amount of credit for wins and losses.  Bryce is the same way.   He was far from good except for a handful of plays.  That's not a recipe for success long term.  On the flip side, with the running game and defense playing so well, he's not being asked to do too much.  He doesn't look like "the guy."  I'm all for bringing in real competition with Bryce this year.
