Look at the guys actually doing something out there.

With the exception of Reddick, Luvu, Gonzalez and Gilmore, every player that is performing at grade level and above was a Hurney draft, and many were coached by Rivera.

Jaycee Horn gets an Incomplete grade because of injury (he looked good here before the injury, but they all did at that time).

Whew. Hurney/Rivera era players are what are holding this team together right now. That's how bad things are and that's no praise for Hurney or Rivera, just pointing out that those guys got fired for their performance here.

Terrace deserves an incomplete as well, imo. He looked so good in the preseason...

Keith Taylor has shown some great potential and made a couple plays.

Chubba looks good for a rookie imo, but obviously needs to work on his hands.

I agree with your premise. Our core is leaning heavily on Hurney if not River/Hurney players.  But keep in mind it takes a few years for most drafted players to settle in.

i mean fitts has been here for one offseason, so the numbers don't exactly stack up in his favor. his guys are mostly free agents on a cash strapped hurney'd salary cap and rookies (who are either injured or playing on an offense missing some chromosomes.)

front office is still in better shape than it was under hurney and it ain't even close.

An NFL caliber offensive coordinator could have won with this roster and Teddy Bridgewater

what???? no chance. trotting out this O-line is actually the biggest knock against the front office i just defended. teddy looks serviceable because he has a line + less psi holding the two-yard balls back

Yeah, I was a bit baffled when people here were claiming this past draft was better than the 2020 draft this off season. I didn't see it then, and sure as heck don't see it now.

Because it's really not.

Horn may be excellent, may not ever recover. Marshall is, well, a Temple player from LSU at best. Christensen is apparently a toothless T. Rex. Tremble might be a good TE eventually, maybe a fair one right now. Daviyon Nixon gets an incomplete due to injury but seemed nothing too special so far. Chuba has flashes of excellence but has hands of stone. Keith Taylor had an outstanding game against Minnesota but has otherwise been quiet. Deonte Brown went to IR because of weight apparently, never having played a meaningful snap. Shi Smith proved to be another training camp favorite that has done nothing in limited opportunities. Thomas Fletcher sent to IR under the crushing injury of JJ Jansen wanting to stay an extra season. Phil Hoskins has been seen on the back of milk cartons.

Wow. After trading for soooo many picks and passing on soooo many bonafide players, you'd think we'd have hit pay dirt a couple of times just by random chance. Fitt just shat the bed with Rhule's apparent guidance.

the offensive line isn't good but darnold makes it looks worse holding onto the ball for so long even when he has a clean pocket. a good offensive coordinator could scheme quicker throws and play action to manufacture more time to pass. the biggest issue really is darnold doesn't process coverage well. even when brady schemes open guys, darnold either doesn't look at them, throws to them too late, or throws a terrible ball. bridgewater could at least read a defense, even if his arm talent couldn't challenge them.

Brady is a major issue but nothign is as bad as the OL including Darnold.

There is one legit player across the entire line and most of them aren't even backup material but the ones starting SHOULD be backups at best

    • Oh, now we are "top half?" Keep moving the goal posts. No we aren't. We don't have a surefire WR2, nor do we have a TE that we can count on to consistently make big plays. Our receiving corps is somewhat bland to be honest. It does not have enough juice. Add another playmaker, then we'll likely be top half. Our receiving corps ranked somewhere between 20 and 25 in the league depending upon who you look at. No one has us in the top half based upon last season.
    • It is hard to say--if you look back at our roster from 4 years ago...In addition, we have a ton of money going into our OL right now (which might strengthen the argument to draft a tackle now)  The average NFL career is under 4 years, but the average NFL career for first rounders is 9.3 years, so most get 2 contracts.   So having said that, I look at it as capital--if your concern (legit) becomes an issue, then you should have the same vision and trade that player and draft his replacement.  However, TMAC, Coker, and a rookie is not likely to be a problem for another 4 years--2030.   But to your point, we have a situation right now that the OL has 2 guards and a RT around or over 30.  The make about $70m per year.   I like the perspective of reality you bring, however.  Is that a factor to morgan in 2026?
    • I have no problem drafting a WR, even as high as the 2nd, but I do have an issue with using a precious 1st rounder on it. Another WR is a need, but we also have a lot of other needs, and the goal should always be to draft 1st rounders that you expect to be on the team for 10 years if they stay healthy. In regards to Coker, one of two things happen.  He keeps getting better and becomes our legit #2 to T-Mac and we have to pay him accordingly, or he doesn’t. If he does, then using that 1st rounder on a WR this year was dumb.  If he doesn’t, then drafting a WR in the 1st this year would be smart, but then so would trading Coker when his perceived value would be at its highest. If we were already had a SB contending roster, then yes, a 1st Round WR to put us over the top makes sense, but we just have too many holes to fill to use it that way… again, unless the staff just doesn’t believe in Coker’s ability to become a true #2, which I think he really can be.
