For those who think the REFS rig the game

Bad officiating is not proof of a conspiracy. It proves no one cares to put more time into quality refs, you know, ones that are trained more than 2 months for 5 hours every other day or whatever.

Better yet, technology can easily replace most of them.

Problem is, every other fanbase thinks this this is a conspiracy too. The common denominator is butthurt.

Explain why the league makes rules more muddied and muddied each year and also don't get rid of "bad" refs?  Come on dude, there is too much money in storylines that equal ratings (and the league makes most money off profit sharing so it doesn't matter if you win or lose really).   The "bad" refs that continue to make questionable calls are there for a reason.  And yeah at some time most fan bases probably have been shafted to push a storyline.  There will always be legit bad calls but there is a lot of clear blatant ones that happen as well.  You can't sit here and tell me when Cam was hit with helmet to helmets all super bowl with no calls they didn't want Peyton to go out on top.  STORYLINEs sell ratings.

You obviously don’t know what the meaning of proof is.

Can you specifically articulate how, the NFL made more money by influencing this outcome other than just saying storylines sell? You know…with some numbers/data?

Cam’s Jersey was the top seller in the entire NFL that year, he was MVP…the Panthers were favored even. A Panthers win WAS the storyline lol.

Bias of the refs and poor officiating does not equal conspiracy.

As to why the NFL doesn’t fire them that is because the league is incompetent. That should be obvious enough for you by all their dumbassery.

Most of the money is advertising.  Way more than jersey sales.  Also super bowl has sliding scale on ads if ratings drops during the game they pay less.  Probably something like that for other games too.  Storylines matter.  There is always one in big games.   I do envy the ignorance is bliss style for watching NFL I miss those days.

I think a lot of fans don't understand just how little it takes to nudge things in a particular direction. A holding call or two at the right time (on either side of the ball) can have massive repercussions and decide the outcome of the game.

And I don't even think the NFL cares about controlling/influencing *EVERY* outcome, but they surely have their fingerprints all over plenty of contests, when it benefits their vision for their product, no doubt about it imho.

Remember when that shithead LB for the chiefs killed his wife and then killed himself at the KC facility? And the chiefs/panthers game was almost cancelled?

there wasn’t one single holding penalty called on the Chiefs that entire game and for a bad team QB’d by Brady Quinn that averaged a lot of penalties they were only called for like 1 or 2. So instead of the narrative being “Panthers win game that should have not been played” it went from “Heroic chiefs come together as a team in tragedy and win!”

its fuging bullshit and I hate referees

It's proof enough that the NFL doesn't care about a quality product and a fairer game. Whether the incompetent ref is blowing calls on purpose vs stupidity is irrelevant to the outcome on the field. If the game isn't called fairly it is still essentially cheating.

What doesn't help is the good ole boy system in the NFL that caters to authority. Old ass part timers on a power trip don't like it when you  yell at them for getting a call wrong.

Or how bout when the refs throw make up flags for screwing up the previous play?

How about when added the PI challenge??  That was a great idea that was ruined essentially because the officials boycotted the rules and refused to overturn blatantly wrong calls. They don't like being called out for being wrong.

That ref in the CHI game was flagrantly being a childish asshole all because he wears a striped jersey. He should be suspended.

The game sucks because:

A. They aren't trained well enough.

B. Essential penalties can't be challenged.

C. They are arrogant POS'.

They were totally fine with putting out Pop Warner and HS referees because they didn’t want to pay the regular ones. It took one of the worst jam jobs on MNF  to pay them
