Not really, but still a chance for Panther fans to see Cam in the uniform before he rides off into the sunset.

I'm never a fan of making football decisions for non-football reasons.

That said, I don't trust Matt Rhule's decision making anyway, so I don't really care all that much.

I think you can make a non-football decision when 1) the season’s already over and 2) the choice is between 64/26 and 70/35 QB rating and QBR, respectively. It’s kind of a toss-up, output-wise, and there isn’t much on the line.

There is for Rhule.

Hence, I'd wager the primary factor in this decision is what has the best chance of saving Rhule's ass.

Did he make the right choice? Don't know, but he rarely does, so...

Yeah that’s fair. Were I in his shoes, I would have gone for similar productivity + feel good factor, which you get with Cam. But then again, I’d be a far worse HC than Rhule.

I will be rooting for Darnold. Good kid and has had some tough breaks. Hopefully he auditions well.

Darnold is a lot like Ron Rivera for me. Super nice guy but not really known to be good at his job.

Can he be coached up? Don't know, but I do know the current staff aren't the ones to develop anybody, so again...

Who cares about phucking feel good factor?

Feelings don't matter. Ever.

What matters is what gets us closer to a Superbowl in the next 20 years period.

I don't give a schit if that's Sam Cam or Zombie Osama Bin Laden.

Whatever and whoever it takes.

Not so sure that's accurate. We scored in the last quarter of the Falcons game and Darnold played in that quarter. Heck, just two weeks prior we scored a few against the Vikes.

Went to the Instagram account that posted that pic to see. Looks like it's not there anymore.

I mean, heaven knows there's criticisms to be made of Darnold but it can be done without getting the facts wrong.

Not fully accurate, but close enough to make a point. Sam played in the 4th quarter of the ATL game, but they scored the TD after he got knocked out of the game with injury. He didn’t play in the first quarter Sunday either… but no TDs against TB, NE, ATL (while he was in) and the giants (although I think Walker played the entire 4th). Vikings game was the week before the giants.

When the “what gets us closer to a Super Bowl” factor is a wash, I’d start looking for other deciding factors. Fans love Cam.

    • You literally did it right there and didn't even remember it. Sorry long Friday.
    • TMac to finish up Feels good after pads came on. Physicality is a little different, playstyle is a little different. Refs let the players play, so he has to earn his stripes to get calls and just has to be better playing through contact. Focusing on staying confident and listening to coaches. Not much has changed for him, still trying to be his authentic self. Was asked about boxing practice he was seen doing. He's done that since he was a kid because his dad was a boxer and taught his siblings. Was the youngest and got beat up the most, but now he's the fourth of sixth children. Boxing helps with his cardio and being reactive with his hands to the ball + DB. Admits to struggling the first couple of days, hats off to the DB corps for making him better every single day but had his best day on Wednesday. Even the best get got. Just have to remain confident in preparation and abilities. Confidence will take you only so far, and that's where his resilience plays a factor. XL is authentic and great to have in the room. Can rely on him to be the same guy every day. They make each other better. Everybody feeds off of each other and when one person wins they all win. Happy to be a part of the receiver room. Was asked about how he was laughing harder than everybody else at XL getting his feet in the water off the back of the boat: "Man he needs to be stopped bro... He can't be serious but he was serious. It's all good." Playing against the increased amount of press he's facing in practice is helping him get more physical. His job is to catch the ball, so if it touches his hand he has to come down with it. Only catches with one hand if he needs to, but that gives the QB a bigger catch radius. Had a pregame routine where he did a 360 one-handed catch, but doesn't do it anymore. Working on being a pro: Getting into the facility early and getting treatment, eating better, etc. Just wants to win re: rookie goals. Anything he can do to help the team win. "I'm looking for to the season man and keep pounding."
    • DJ Wonnum up next Felt the defense came out ready to work at all levels and took over practice. New standard around here. Young guys have to know they're coming in to work. Last year was not the standard. Nic and Princely are fun. Different personalities but loves what they bring to the room. Sky is the limit for them. Nic sits next to Wonnum, Princeley sits next to Jones II. Allows them to be better mentors. Feels great and ready to go Incoom's athleticism allows him to bend and get low even to compensate for not being the biggest guy. Can set the edge. EDGE guys are helped when the ILBs can get home because it allows them to be a little more free while still in scheme. DB being back means his dominance is back. Can set the edge from the 3 or wherever he's at to make the runs bounce to the EDGE guys. Winning mentality and standard this year. Championship level from practice to how you live off of the field. Accept greatness and excellence with guys wanting to come to work every day. Not settling for anything less. Been in guys' shoes that are fighting for roster spots so he knows how to address them. Remembers not knowing what's next, especially as a rookie. Have a clear mind and ask the older guys a lot of questions. Has a good relationship already with Pat Jones II due to knowing each other and talking football all of the time. Can make hand gestures and know immediately what to adjust. Taking care of his body and excited to start the season. Getting it acclimated to football again by being able to tackle and bring players to the ground. Didn't know they were playing live tomorrow. Don't tell me it'll be "thud." Browns next week will allow them to hit somebody else and get a feel of what a different team is doing. Also allows the team to see where they're at on offense and defense. Ready to play football. Not worried about the QB matchup for Cleveland, going to play hard regardless of who is back there.
