For all the huddlers wanting to draft O-line first, do you guys really think Rhule will play another year with Sam at the QB position? If there is one thing Rhule has done is that he knows the QB position is most important position, evidence by Teddy and Darnold acquisitions. Rhule just sucks at evaluating the QBs and lost on his gambles. A 1st round offensive linemen with Darnold at QB will not help Rhule save his job, he will reach for a QB in the first round. This all leads to Panther suckage for a few more years.

In all those examples there were hither rated players available that were statistically safer.

Sewell was probably rated higher than Wilson on most boards, maybe Chase and Pitts also. At the very least any logical person would consider them safter picks.

Derrick Brown was rated higher than Herbert and was considered safter by most also.

Watson wasn't even drafted in the top 10 so that tells you everything you need to know.  If teams had him rated that high he would have never fallen out of the top 10 being a QB.

They might have been rated high but this idea that they were BPA is naive.  Fact is QBs are almost always inherently a greater risk then a non QB that is also available at that same position.  This is too be expected because its a much more important position.

Are you following me to different thread to agree to disagree?? At this point its stops being a coincidence..lmao

So now you're trying to make a point that BPA isn't always the higher rated player.. Okay... And Ppl take QB who aren't the higher rated player.. Okay this is true..

But Context...  Aren't thoes Players are usually rated higher the Pickett are better athletes with a better draft profile in better QB draft classes..

I know you're talking to someone else, but I just wanted to say I agree with this... I dont think Pickett looks like as good a prospect as those QBs...  But a lot can change in interviews and workouts.

I was just arguing dumb semantics tbh.

Name me another few QB's other then Burrows.. Where that was a winning strategy then I'll shut up..

Don't worry I'll wait..

But facts are Will Grier was a better Prospect coming out and had more years of college production and he was barely a 3rd round pick..

Kyler Murray.

He has to.. If I'm Tepper.. You can't afford to pay another 20 million to play somewhere else while letting this coach make another QB position..

If he keeps his job he has to make it work with Sam or Cam.. But it is completely stupid to let him use another Assets on another QB decision..

Kyler Murray... Was a 1 year starter Pickett is a 4 year starter.. Opportunity equal production difference.  Kyler is younger and way more talented then Pickett is now.. Plus the big difference.. Kyler fell into the perfect situation.. His college coach had the 1st pick in the draft..

Add context before Googling names..

I never said those players were not higher rated then Pickett, I'm not sure I would draft Pickett in the top 10.  My point is that very rarely will a QB be the highest rated player on a team's board at any given point in a draft, which you disagreed with.  There will almost always be a safer non QB pick, short of having the number 1 pick in a Manning or Luck type of year.

Even with Cam there safer picks, but as some point a team has to gamble somewhat on a QB.

I’m terribly afraid this is how things are going to shake out. But you’re absolutely right - there’s no way Rhule rolls into next season with Sam. And the best way to lure the fanbase back in is by drafting a first round QB “ooh shiny.” But please, for the love of God Tepper, don’t let a lame duck coach mortgage our future for Watson.

even if they take Pickett and he’s bad you can just draft someone else in a year or two

For the love of God people.  We have tried over and over and over at using Free Agency to better our line.  It fuging doesnt work.  Teams do not let high end line talent simply walk.  They are too valuable. You have to build through the draft.  Show me one playoff team that built their line through free agency

I'm a fan of drafting Oline but what about KC?

Didn't they revamp some of it through FA and trades?

    • Why? AI already taking jobs, running up power bills, drinking all the water and just bad for the environment but hey lest try to shoehorn another useless way to use it.
    • I'm going rogue in R1 but there's so much confusion around us. Last year, we were going Walker or Williams and caught folks off guard with TMac. The previous year we LOVED Legette and it was no surprise when his name was called. This year, I think we nail three areas that weren't totally addressed in FA.  R1 - Kayden McDonald Full disclosure, I want Thienemann here, but think he goes before 19. Some might see an "overdraft" but McDonald unlocks so many people on our D. Having a DT the caliber of McDonald let's Lloyd, Wallace and the newly drafted Hill flood the offensive backfield. Also opens up Moehrig and our EDGES to eat. Lastly, it also removes all the pressure on DB to be the primary facilitator in the trenches and A'Shawn will be missed. I don't care about Turk. McDonald is the only true DT worth of a R1 grade and Morgan seals up our trenches here w/ a kid from a blue blood school. R2 - Anthony Hill Jr *trade up*  I love JRod, but think a smart team takes him at the end of R1 (Seattle, NE w/ two d-minded coaches). Hill, Jr is a beast and lost in the shuffle with all the Styles/Allen/Rodriguez hype. He and Lloyd with DB and McDonald up front and flanked by Scourton/Phillips is nasty.  R3 - Hecht/Lew/Center du jour Let's stop the madness with ignoring this position in the draft. We need one and should start normalizing the capital invested in our OL with someone on a draft contract. He won't need to start day 1, but I think the right selection will push for starter reps. R4 - Bud Clark Not sure if he's here in R4 where we pick, but would fit the "type" of FS/roamer that we need opposite Moehrig and Ransom. Allows us to run 3-safety looks and really keep teams guessing with personnel packages. R5 - Kendrick Law The kind of WR we need. IDK if he's any different than Horn, Jr or Metchie but Law could be a dart throw that brings a deep threat to our WR corps I'm guessing one of the R5 picks is used to move up in R2 along with a '27 day 3 pick.   Post-draft, I sign Njoku to bring in a vet at TE. I'm also keeping my eyes open for pre-week 1 team cuts for a young CB that we could bring in to maybe plan for Mike Jack's departure next year. Flame away.... I know the McDonald pick will not make people happy.
