Anyone who thought Matt rhule would be gone is delusional. You don't sign him to a 7 year deal and let him go after 2 seasons. He was always hired to build a competitive culture and rebuild the team, hence the 7 year contract. He took a couple years to rebuild the programs at Baylor and Temple. It just happened the panthers came out competitive this season so the mantra shifted from rebuild to competing, but that got shot down real quick. Rebuilds don't happen overnight and I want rhule gone now, but fact of the matter is, this guy is here for a while.

I haven't seen much of anybody say he would be gone.

I've seen plenty suggest that he should.

Want to buy my season tickets from me bro? Actually, Ill give them away. You can give them back to me in 7 years after Rhule's "rebuild," because I think we have totally different definitions of what a rebuild looks like.

Rhule and Tepper are supposed to be having an end of season meeting to hash things out, so this seems premature.

Plausible scenario though 😣

Unfortunately we know Tepper isn't going to can Rhule. Bright side is my to do list will be shorter without football in the picture. Probably won't even watch the draft.

Trading for Watson and not upgrading the line I’m convinced would be a huge mistake. They have to figure out a way to do both and the only way you upgrade this line is with 1st round picks. So you better figure out a way to parlay Burns, Brown, CMC into another 1st round pick.

Watson was amazing behind some awful lines in Houston. But doubt he’d okay a trade, so kind of moot.

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reports Matt Rhule will return as Carolina's head coach in 2022.

It's a body blow for a Panthers fanbase sick of Rhule's underperorming and constant talk of his process at work while coaching one of the NFL's worst teams. Carolina fans chanted "fire Rhule" during the team's most recent home game; even fans at a recent Charlotte Hornets game chanted for Rhule's firing. The Panthers have flailed back and forth in search of a franchise quarterback since Rhule was hired, and still have no answers under center (and a hefty bill for Sam Darnold's services in 2022). Rhule, 46, is 10-22 as Carolina's head coach. The Athletic's Joseph Person in December reported Panthers owner David Tepper was "unhappy and embarrassed" by the team's 2021 performance, and players were quoted anonymously criticizing Rhule's nonstop micromanaging. An agent who represents several Carolina players told The Athletic there are Panthers players from Baylor and Temple -- Rhule's former college teams -- who wouldn't make an NFL roster anywhere else. Tepper is on record saying he hired Rhule in part because they dress alike and both men had experience as short-order cooks. The Panthers will wait until after the 2022 season to fire the former college coach.

    • Didn't  see this posted (since 2023) but since folks have been posting that you can't judge a draft class for three years (a ridiculous take), I thought I'd post this to see what people thought about the 2023 draft. Unfortunately this may not be the most interesting class to do this with but I do quite like retrospective draft grades. Would appreciate other's takes on this (and other recent) draft classes.   1(1) - Bryce Young QB: I am a bigger Bryce Young apologist than most (maybe all). I like the kid. But there is no way around it: This was a terrible pick. If he had been picked in the 4th or even the 3rd round I would feel pretty good about it. But this was the first overall pick that we gave up two firsts, our best offensive player to get.  GRADE: C -    2(39) - Jonathan Mingo WR: not much to say here here. He was here for two years. His yards per catch are on par with Bryce's yards per pass. Rough stuff. To date he has still never scored a touchdown in the NFL GRADE: F   3(80) - DJ Johnson OLB: a pick I hated as soon as it happened and an example of why the premise of this thread is honestly dumb. This was a bad pick when it happened. Most people knew it.  Then came training camp and he did not look good. Then came the preseason which confirmed what we saw in TC. Then came the season which confirmed what we saw in preseason. To date, he has half a sack in his career. GRADE: F 4 (114) Chandlers Zavala G: Honestly the best pick of this draft which really speaks to how awful this draft is. Other than Bryce, the only pick still on the team. He is mostly average or below average depth which in round 4 is not terrible. But he had a pff score of 43.5 and though I think people have unrealistic expectations for draft picks, I still would want a little more from a fourth round pick GRADE: C+   5 (145) - Jammie Robinson S: I liked the pick when it happened but ended up being a disappointment. He logged 1 tackle with the falcons last year and not enough snaps to get a grade on PFF.  GRADE: F OVERALL DRAFT GRADE: F
