Yeah I fear that last year may give them the confidence to try this.

We have a rare chance to solve a  long-standing need. Don’t get cute.

They are only cute. That's why our 2021 draft is likely to be the disaster that I think it will be.

Trading down is for teams that are built or crush at talent evaluations. We aren't either of those.

Centers rarely go top 10. In fact they rarely go top 15.

I think Linderbaum could be. I wouldn't be mad at getting him in that 10-15 range.

People said the same thing about TE, yet the Falcons took one top 5 last draft. If a guy is supposed to be a once in a decade or longer prospect at his position, some team will pull the trigger. Heck, the Raiders took a kicker once upon a time in round one when everyone said nobody does that.

I wouldn't be shocked I would be furious

I would be shocked if they went DB again in top 10. I wouldn’t be shocked if they signed someone like Cam Robinson to try to fix the OT problem and then they trade the 6th pick for more picks and pass on Ekwonu, Neal, etc.

Personally, I think the better move is to draft a player who can play OT ($20 mil per year position),  sign a FA safety like Marcus Williams so Chinn can play strong safety and maybe get down in the box more. Chinn needs to be our Chancellor. Find a rangy FS to play the Earl Thomas role and draft the OT rather than signing one.

IOL are different. TE's have grown to be game changers. Centers are important but also far easier to obtain.

We're just going to have to agree to disagree. Linderbaum is supposed to be the best center prospect in years and the best O-lineman in the draft. Some team will take a chance, especially with two teams having two top ten picks.

I like him as a prospect but I have grown to be leary of small, athletic centers. Kalil was unreal but a lot of the guys with similar profiles(Tyler C being one) have not lived up to that billing.

Panthers will trade down to the 11-15 range. 1st for 1st+2nd+4th/5th

Expect Ekwonu or Linderbaum to be the pick from there

Absolute best case scenario IMO operating under the assumption we trust BC at LT or sign one in FA. I imagine Ickey doesn't have the "right size" Rhule wants for a LT, though.

But, Ickey can play OG or LT if needed and Linderbaum would honestly be a dream to lock the center position up for the next decade. Grab more OL in the 2nd (or even QB if we want a glimmer of hope) and the OL rebuild is on at least.

    • I am just saying that there are realistic alternatives to the Dan is totally Fitterer in all his opinions and incapable of his own mind. Because we don’t know what really happened.     And your job is to support your boss even if you aren’t 100% in agreement.  And further you do not publicly dissent.  Publicly meaning when more than just the two of you are around.    ISO believe he is doing Tepper’s bidding on a lot of things and I believe it was very likely as a new hire, in 2024.  If I were to speculate further I would think that Canales has a big say in the offensive evaluations and Dan might not feel like he should be flatly overruling him since he is not an offensive guy. Any differences of opinion, if Canales feels strongly about an evaluation or decision Dan would be more likely to go with Dave than to overrule.    But can’t claim to know anything with any certainty.    I do think Dan showed us some solid work in this draft.    I also am WTF no QB competition. But I know we agree that it wouldn’t take much to show Bruce up and it seems like they were avoiding that.   In the big picture of the developmental arc they may have decided on, maybe that was okay for year two. It will absolutely not be okay for next year. And Canales has brought Hookernin so that is a small move in the direction we wanted them to go.
    • Just to be clear no one in the front office at the time before or immediately following the 2023 draft including Fitterer Morgan or Reich was saying Bryce Young would need the highest paid OL in the entire league which we now have just to look halfway serviceable.
    • Come on dude, he's only 2 spots below SB champ Hurts. That's awesome!
