If it's not QB or LT, we should be trading down. Given the lack of 2nd and 3rd round picks, I'd be inclined to sit and wait and listen to offers while I'm on the clock regardless of who was available. You have your allotted time. Use it.

Yeah, if Cross/Neal/Ekwonu are off the board, Penning, Green and Linderbaum are still there. Trade down, get a starter and maybe another starter on that OL.

Definitely makes sense, but will someone want to trade up in that scenario? The 3 elite LTs and 2 pass rushers might be gone.

If all three LT are off the board it comes down to:

  • Tyler Linderbaum C IOWA - a team need but a center at #6 ?
  • Kyle Hamilton S NOTRE DAME - Maybe the best athlete in the draft.  A need & would help our defense tremendously.  He might allow Chinn to go back to LB, which would help 2 positions. But it's also strange to take a S this high.  Hamilton would immediately be one of the highest paid S in the NFL
  • Derek Stingley Jr. CB LSU - another great talent and a fair payscale but definitely not a team need
  • Nakobe Dean LB GEORGIA - probably the best overall combination of top talent and a team need
  • Bernhard Raimann LT CENTRAL MICHIGAN - huge LT and looks great but a converted TE so only has 2 years of experience.  Do you risk such a high pick on a prospect ?

Panthers would be in kind of "no man's land" at this point.  So trading back for extra picks would probably be the best move if you could find a team to trade with.  A lot of these same guys would still be available in the next 5-10 picks.

Not for nothing but I am seeing now that scouts/teams/analyst are pointing to Tyler L as being "undersized".  granted that is his only knock but I wonder if its a legit criticism of him

Might be true.  I think he was listed at 290 at Iowa which is on the light side for an NFL OL.

But this is "lying season" so it's tough to believe anybody right now.   That may just be a team hoping Linderbaum will fall into the 20's.

Let's say the Jags don't take Evan Neal at #1... what if we trade up a spot or two to ensure we get him?

The Giants and Jets are both threats to draft him; I wonder what it would cost to move up from #6 to #3?

Every day that goes by makes me more suspicious that all 3 LT will be gone by #6.

I get the sense that we may be locked in on Kenny Pickett regardless and are planning to try and "fix" the OL in free agency somehow.

I've resigned my to this.  We've heard we might sign the oft injured Armstead of the Saints for LT, and I think we then go Pickett.  He's the most ready, and we all think Matt knows he needs to win now.  I really want to trade back a few spots and get a pick in the 2nd or 3rd, we could get great value in those rounds, but alas...Matt needs a QB.

This is a bad time to not have a second and third round pick, and a desperate need for a quarterback.

Thats my worst case scenario nightmare.  Give Armstead a huge contract and draft pickett.  Holy hell we implode this poo organization in record time.

FWIW the dude on Locked on Panthers says he has a source in the org that says we are going hard after Armstead.  So that means we are going to have to throw mad money at him

Wow, I thought drafting Pickett would be the bottom of the barrel.  I didn't think things could be even worse.  Ugh.

It will show Tepper not firing Rhule this off season was a horrendous decision.

So the Jags have a better coach, QB, and OL (soon enough) than us by a pretty wide margin…. I’m actually jealous of the Jags right now.

I disagree. Lawrence is the future golden boy of the NFL. Christened that early, but I am not convinced.   Pederson is a really good coach but he has his warts or he would still be in Philly. As far as oline Cam and Norwell are likely out the door.  Their interior is bout where we at, and the right tackle spot we have the edge.  So... I get it lets crap on Rhule all day every day but I hope Campen can fix this oline in a hurry. If we overpay for a LT Armstead like we did with  Matt Kalil or pass on OL in the first round we fudged it. Otherwise within two years yes we will likely have a better oline, QB and coach than JAX.

Love the optimism, but a lot would have to go well for that to happen to us. We would have to fire Rhule and replace him with a coach better than Pederson (seems likely I agree), then find a QB that is better than Lawrence (he is still a bit of a question mark, but we have really poo the bed on QBs lately), and build our line ( which is very possible, only Jax is about to draft a high potential LT this draft). Also the Jags will be trying to improve their team in the meantime without having to worry about finding a QB.

    • I feel the same way. Bryce hasn't proven himself to be so good that he would clearly lap anyone that we'd bring in the compete for the starting job. I think the team is actually afraid to do that. If Bryce goes down does anyone think Kenny Pickett is solid option to replace him?. We can control him for 2026 and 2027. The problem is 2028. Unless he takes a massive leap forward ability wise, I don't see how Carolina can justify paying B.Y. $50 million a year. So far, Bryce has not shown that he can CONSISTENTLY carry a team. He needs to be carried by a strong offensive line, running game, pass catchers and a respectable defense. If he's lacking any of those things I don't think we can make the playoffs in 2026/2027 unless the NFC South is as bad (or worse) than 2025. Unfortunately, athletes and agents have EGOs! When he has a chance for a 2nd contract his management team will probably insist on a "market deal" and feel insulted if they don't get one. That leaves a couple of options if his play hasn't significantly improved. 1) Let him walk and test the market. 2) Franchise him for the 2028 season if you're still not sure about what to do. 3) Extend him to a team friendly deal that pays him below the "current market" which would allow the team to continue to build a solid team to support him. 4) Over pay him and pretty much ruin any chance of becoming a consistent contender. The last option is the LEAST DESIRABLE ONE. The 2026 season is a pivotal season for Bryce and the Carolina Panthers. The success of the next 5-7 years could ultimately be decided on how well plays the next 2 seasons.
    • Thank god BigKat can't buy it because I'd be gone immediately
    • Drake Maye ended up putting almost 300 on them lol. Bryce was stunned from the beginning to end. I know that's an easy comp for the Bryce truthers but no one else put up those puny QB stats against them all season long.
