I know this sounds crazy, but was Jake really the best QB we have ever had?

I could make a case for Steve Beuerlein. Lets put this in perspective before people throw the playoffs at me. Don't forget that Steve didn't have Steve Smith. and the Defense wasn't the same. Steve's best year kills Jake's best year, when he lead the league with 4,436 yards and a 94.6 passer rating. I think if we went back in time and put our team with Steve as QB, we would be pretty good. If anything they are just as good as each other, i don't think i can call jake the best.

--by the way, im talking about numbers as a Panther for both guys---

Steve's best year is clearly better than Jakes's but Jake has been better longer.

I know Jake has had a better situation than Steve but "it is what it is"

I like Jake, have always supported him and pulled for him until this year that is.

Fox clearly didn't expect his play to decline so rapidly and is not prepared so this year we have to settle for crap at QB. If Fox is still here next year and he stays with Jake I pity the fool.

Steve may not have had Steve Smith, but he had plenty of offensive weapons, way more than we do now. He had Muhammad in his prime, Patrick Jeffers, Wesley Walls, and so on. That year he went to the pro bowl our offense was in the top 5 in the NFL. That year was so much fun!

    • There probably isn’t an orthopedic surgery that has had more improvement in technique and outcomes over the last two decades than the acl repair. Because of its importance in pro sports and the sheer number that surgeons do there have been lots of opportunities to practice 1. Better techniques - arthroscopic v open surgery means people heal faster  2. More training - all sports med surgeons have tons of experience doing them 3. better imaging - later generations of mri are more sensitive  4. better therapy - PTs have gotten better at rehabbing them and the theories of rehab have improved a lot. No idea about brooks in particular tho, but I’d describe that overall situation as “not great”
    • If Freeling or either of the Utah OTs dropped to 19 I'd be more than happy honestly. Our OT situation isn't great with an aging Moton at RT and a mess of a situation at LT if Walker goes down at any point in time.  What I'm expecting the Panthers to do is probably draft another weapon like Sadiq or KC Conception. That's been their track record in drafting R1 thus far. None of the defensive talent projected to be around 19 stands out to me. Unless they just want to draft a LB early (Rodriguez,  CJ Allen, Anthony Hill, Jake Gollday).
