2022 Charlotte FC Game Thread

I might have to get me a black Bender jersey.

The MLS Draft has one of the worst success rates out of all the major sports because most elite players have already joined academy teams and are tied to a team (whether domestic or foreign).

Basically the MLS Draft is a crap shoot.

For example, Austin FC selected Danny Pereira first overall in 2021. I actually had the privilege of coaching against Pereira a few years ago during his HS career. He is a very good player and had a solid career at Virginia Tech. However, his skill didn’t translate to immediate success in the MLS as he recorded one single assist in 25 games last year.

Our boy Bender has a goal and two assists through his first four games. He’s a gamer.

My observations watching this game in person

Świderski is legit, his first touch and turns will make him lethal in attack
Bender is a future star and needs to be starting every match

Need to get another center midfielder. Bronico and Ruiz just won’t be good enough to help us take it to the next level

Surprisingly, Fuchs has struggled a bit defensively but still is a great leader and gets involved in the game.

Quick question about ticket seating. I bought 2 tickets in the supporter section earlier this week and an additional one today.  The section for the third ticket shows different than the first 2.

Since the supporters section is “arrive first, get to choose seating first” there should be no issue with my tickets right, in terms of being able to have all 3 people together?

You might want to post this on the clubs Reddit page too. Not sure how many people have gone to a game that post on here.

    • Good, our ST is almost as bad as our ILB depth!
    • With two starters on expiring contracts (Moton + Corbett) as well as a few back-ups (Christensen, Mays, and Nijman), the Panthers are likely going to have to reinvest in the OL after this coming season. Icky's fifth-year option was picked up by the team this offseason while Lewis and Hunt both remain under contract then (though Lewis' deal is set-up in a way that would let Carolina move on from him then as well). I think that the team is going to be looking at investing a premium pick at RT should Bryce's development continue, and might even look to double dip at the position in order to have a swing tackle that can also kick inside when needed. There's also the question of starting center... Prospects I'm watching this upcoming college season... Centers Jake Slaughter (Florida) Iapani Laloulu (Oregon) Connor Lew (Auburn) Logan Jones (Iowa) Parker Brailsford (Alabama) Connor Tollison (Missouri) Bryce Foster (Kentucky) Pat Coogan Notre Dame) Raheem Anderson (Michigan) Carson Hinzman (Ohio State) RTs Francis Mauigoa (Miami) Kadyn Proctor (Alabama) Spencer Fano (Utah) Gennings Dunker (Iowa) Blake Miller (Clemson) Isaiah World (Oregon) Caleb Tiernan (Northwestern) Monroe Feeling (Georgia) Earnest Greene III (Georgia) Monroe Mills (Louisville) Charles Jagusah (Notre Dame) Tree Babalade (South Carolina) Trey Zuhn III (Texas A&M) Nolan Rucci (Penn State) Tristan Leigh (Clemson) Fernando Carmona (Arkansas) JC Davis (Illinois) Riley Mahlman (Wisconsin) PJ Williams (SMU) Tosh Baker (Notre Dame) Aki Ogunbiyi (Texas A&M) Courtland Ford (Kentucky) Ethan Onianwa (Rice)
    • I watched documentary on the 2010 Auburn season and Cam wasn’t included in that either. I think he just doesn’t care for these things
