Besides hiring Rhule what has been Tepper's biggest mistake so far?

Problem with Tepper, and a lot of owners like to meddle in the affairs. It never works well. Khan in Jacksonville. Jerry in Dallas. Mike Brown in Cincinnati who finally gave us control to his daughter who actually made the player personnel guy make the football decisions, Woody Johnson with the Jets, the list goes on.

He needs to just put football guys in place and let them do the work. His early tenure has been a disaster so far from an on the field product standpoint. Everything else in my opinion has been great.

All the owners share the league's revenue so he is making money regardless. But biggest mistake besides hiring Matt Rhule was not firing Hurney with Ron Rivera.

I'd have been okay with firing Hurney and keeping Rivera.

Wasn't a fan of Rivera but I'd have given him one last shot.

Who do you recommend?

I'd go after Kevin Colbert or possibly tempt Ozzie Newsome out of retirement.  There are possibly others, but those two build physical, no nonsense teams that consistently win.

Both are getting up there, but either one could end the madness we are experiencing ATM and get the Panthers heading in the right direction.  That would make a world of difference.   Just 3-4 years should be long enough to build out a competent staff with a winning culture.

Colbert is 66 and is quitting the great Steelers organization because he's tired of working, why the heck would he consider coming here?  Insane🤦‍♂️

Ditto Newsome, what the heck could you do to convince him to come here?

Partial ownership, more money than they've ever dreamed of, and a free hand to pick their staff and build the team.

Point being, we should be looking for a thoroughbred champion, not some wet behind the ears yearling to lead this organization.

Yep, buying an NFL franchise. How's them profits looking, bro? Not only did you spend billions ... but you spent billions on a mid-market team. Oof.

It is only a matter of time before the full might of the gambling revenue hits. As a European used to soccer games bloated with live bets I'll be surprised if the value of every team will not double. It is one thing to predict this and another to see how addictive this actually is. Team values are not adjusted nearly enough yet.

Sadly this will mean lots of broken families, but that is not Teppers problem.

    • I am not sure it should be a ‘sell out to go to the SB’ season. And hope they don’t.  At the same time I was thinking you absolutely must find out if you want to pay for Bryce or not. That means putting it on him. No protecting and trying to hide weaknesses with the run game and a super conservative calls.  So I wish they would do it and find out, win or lose, 2026. No more developing. Time to do it. Let’s see once and for all.
    • My biggest fear with Bryce Young is that he will always do just enough to stick around. He shows flashes and then drops a turd so the hopium is always there. Like his career highlight reel if you cut it up to some hype music and did a YouTube video would actually be quite good. His great plays really, really look good. But after that video you look at his yearly averages for completion percentage, yardage, touchdowns, and virtually every other metric and it is meh as fug. Like you know Bryce is gonna be 13/23 for 157 yards a touchdown and probably a pick.  I will 100% give him his flowers for his athleticism and ability to scramble outside the pocket. I haven’t seen the mythical “super processing ability” he was touted for per se, but he has shown flashes of absolutely elite awareness when it comes to scrambling. The little basketball move he does to shake defensive linemen has almost become a signature move. It’s hard to explain but you know it when you see it he stops on a dime and pivots like he is gonna hit a step back jumper and it has gotten him out of a lot of trouble.  I sincerely, truly, as a vocal Bryce HATER, hope that since we are obviously running with him next year the coaching staff actually tailors plays around his strengths. He needs to be in a pure spread IMO. His size is much less of a hindrance when he can play QB in open space. I feel like most of his highlight reel is from scrambles and play action/bootlegs.
