Baker Mayfield

People here are talking about drafting Malik Willis but Mayfield is basically the same build and style of QB. Mayfield could win right away on a good roster. Willis would need a few years to be productive and would probably be a huge bust on this coaching staff.

If they’d trade Mayfield for a 4th or something I am so down. Franchise tag him if he works out.

There's a better version of Mayfield in this draft and it ain't Willis. Willis and Mayfield aren't really comparable at all.

Mayfield has had the luxury of having one of the best OL’s in football along with one of the best running games. Baker is holding that team back. I was a huge Baker fan coming when he was coming out. I have a tough time believing he’ll ever be able to do much elsewhere after not getting the job done in Cleveland

Of course they are. They have almost the exact same physical measurements. Willis is more athletic but might just be another EJ Manuel. Mayfield is a polished prospect who managed to win on the BROWNS. Let’s not underestimate that.

Mayfield had a rough go last season but it was clear he was injured. He had a good season in 2020. Everyone seems to forget how awful the Browns were for 20 years. What Mayfield accomplished there can’t be underestimated. I bet he’s thrilled to leave.

If he could be had for like, a 3rd, that would be fine.  Doubt that's possible.

No comparison to Darnold at all.  He actually QB'd a team that won double digit games, and a postseason game.  Darnold couldn't do that on the 85 Bears.

Baker is probably a top 20 to 25 QB in the league.  Darnold isn't even among the top 50.  No comparison at all.

He could be our Jimmy G until we drafted and groomed his replacement.

Look at his supporting cast. Now compare it to Bridgewater / Darnold's supporting cast. (hint they have a first round pick at TE they've just franchise tagged who they've barely used for 4 years).

I've stopped being amazed at the naivety of fans on here. It's always much deeper than "it's the QB's fault".

Mayfield appears done in Cleveland. Regardless of if the Browns land Deshaun Watson I’d imagine. Would you consider Mayfield if Watson doesn’t come to the Panthers? Personally I would. His price tag would be far cheaper, he’s played some good football in his career (unlike the last QB they traded for). Plus no creepy sexual predator stigma to deal with.

I think the Panthers should be getting a vibe for his price right now.

"Plus no creepy sexual predator stigma to deal with." I'm glad that you know all of the facts to feel just in saying this...

He has virtually the same physical measurements as Drew Brees too. Would you consider him comparable to Brees? Using physical measurements alone to draw a comparison is laughable. They aren't comparable players.

The 22 active civil suits allege Watson, during massage therapy appointments:

• Forced two women to perform oral sex on him.
• Ejaculated on four women and in front of two others.
• Groped four women.
• Kissed another woman unprompted upon arrival.

Eighteen of the 22 active suits also accuse Watson of inappropriately touching women with his penis during the massage therapy sessions.

.....not aware of any allegations like this against Mayfield.....

    • I would tend to agree about not falling into the trap and paying a below average QB, but sometimes situations can “force” a team to pay that QB. For example, if we play ourselves into a 9-8 like record, then what options will we have in the draft? Or do we avoid the draft and trade for or sign someone in free agency?  I’m not convinced by the 2026 QB draft class. There’s some intriguing prospects but no one that really screams “draft me”. I’m not sure we’ve got anyone really that stands out as a trade candidate or free agent signing. So although we might not want to commit a big money contract to Young, him playing well and showing progress might force the team’s hand.
    • Realistically we would be looking at no more than a mid round pick for Dowdle or Chuba. Are we really that desperate for a mid round pick? Not really. I would much prefer us utilise the two RBs in a 1-2 punch similar to how we used D-Will and Stewart. After all, Bryce is not Drew Brees. He won’t throw for 300+ yards and carry the team consistently as a passer. So having a strong running game with a 1-2 punch will be beneficial to him, and it will also be beneficial to the RBs because we can spell them and not overwork them.
    • The Jets and Bill's are statistically worse
