What About Mariota?

Mariota and Winston? Combined: 138 starts. 76 Ls. 23 game winning drives.

They've had their shot.

To compare. Stafford: 182 starts. 95 Ls. 42 game winning drives.

Good QBs on bad teams are still responsible for 50% of their wins.

Next!

You want a good overlooked QB on bad teams?

Nick Foles: 56 starts. 27 Ls. 13 game winning drives. (on par with Stafford's rate of production at QB)

Gardner Minshew: 22 starts. 14 Ls. 4 game winning drives. There is some potential here. The losing % is worrying. Not close to 50%.  I'd want to see 12 Ls and 5 game winning drives

I'm looking for a QB with a win% above .400 and a w:gwd ratio around 2 or less.

Good QB on good teams

Tom Brady: 316 starts. 73 Ls. 53 game winning drives. (for comparison)

Why even waste the money on someone who's essentially in the same tier as Darnold? At least with a Minshew type, there's upside and potential maybe still there. Mariotta is a backup.

While I do agree.. They have to and will bring in competition for Sam.. And hopefully I'd rather they sign someone to a cheap short contract instead of using any draft picks to trade for crap... Sign somebody and let him and Sam fight it out to be the bridge QB for a QB drafted this year or next. ..
