CMC Debo Samual

Been saying this for two seasons now. Some laughed and scoffed at the idea. It is way past time they make the change if they want to keep him and have him actually play and produce.

I would love a very incentive laden contract that pays for performance for CMC. Kind of like your average sales person who gets paid on commission. The better you do the more you get paid.

It was dumb to pay him CMC.

But we did.  So when he is healthy, we should give him the reps his contract implies he should be getting.  When can limit his reps and he still can get hurt.  Then what.  He should get 20 touches a game.

You want the ball in CMC's hands.  If giving it to him in open space saves his body more than giving it to him running through a six person gauntlet (Between the C gaps) I am all for it. CMC has EXCEPTIONAL hands and might be out of position at RB.

Why do people assume he would be in open space if he lines up at slot wr? Him against LBs is an utter mismatch; him against a slot corner? Idk if it is.

I agree that getting the ball in his hands is a good thing. And I would like to see him have more targets than carries but I think that could still be done out of the backfield to maintain that mismatch. They want to bring a corner over to guard the rb? Pound it and let that corner get popped by one of our guards.

Trade for Jimmy G, draft Willis. Use CMC like Debo and let Chuba and Foreman play exclusively HB. Stop throwing the fuging ball to Chuba.

Pickett. Not Willis. Willis has bust all of him. Plus running QBs don’t win Super Bowls.

Doing this basically takes away his best weapon, which is his running ability. I know because he catches a lot of passes and makes LB's look stupid that people think he is a secret elite WR, well he isn't. He's an elite RB with elite RUNNING BACK catching ability.

I really am consistently amazed that people don't see that the thing that makes CMC an elite player is in fact his running ability.

I don’t think it’s that. Everyone knows CMC is one of the best when healthy. But since he can’t stay healthy, moving him to a Debo like roll can keep him healthy.

Not too fine a point on it but you don't pay gadget players $10-15/mil a year. He's getting paid like a bell cow RB so he needs to play. If he can't stay healthy, then it is just time to move on.

That said, we also don't need to be using him at Ron Rivera rates.

    • That's not totally the case. It is hard to discuss future without a crystal ball, you look at the past the to assess and project, and there is a lot of on field negative from year one. Some people say throw it out. You can’t dismiss things that were on him and not the OL or Reich or Chark or Mingo etc., if you want the real story.  Only Young can tell where that goes and everybody just has to wait for real football. That footwork is not just people picking on him, it is probably a huge barrier to his potential success. All the passing comes from a base and if it off the throws are hard to trust.  OTA optimism is fools gold tbh. We have seen the skins and shirts all stars enough times to know what that is. We will need real football at real football game speed which we won’t get even in preseason.  That said I expect him to somehow make his way to somewhere in QB tiers or rankings to maybe low 20s. Gotta win 6 at least for that.  My opinion is if they can make a playoff run with a 4th tier QB then fine but I’d just as soon go over to the side of those who for years held out for a QB capable of talking to and winning a SB. I am not thinking he is that guy so far but taking this year to find out is necessary.
    • Good lawd, look at the amount of rotation required for a mere 40-yard pass. No wonder he needs a runway for any throw beyond 50 yards.  Can you think of any NFL quarterback today who has a weaker arm than Bryce? For reference, with a similar amount of hip rotation, Stroud slung the ball 69 yards. https://x.com/VatorSports/status/1728845724434186374
    • I think the issue is there isn't any more of these posters still active on this site.  Everyone I see posting now either doesn't like Bryce or wants to see him in a better situation to make a better assessment.  I think everyone agrees he has work to do in order to show us he can become the QB we need him to.  Who knows if he will or if he can, but there are definitely other conversations to be had without being stuck on repeat and every thread turning into the same one.  It sounds like you need to find the Bryce Fan Boys from before the draft and just vent/hash it all out with them somewhere.
