Giants open to trade

When they go to negotiate, I'd expect them to offer the #7 before they'd offer the #5.

But again, that's negotiation.

I think they know what the rest of the league knows:  Panthers are going QB.  So the #5 pick has a ton more value for teams moving up for a QB.  I think they are leveraging what we have made rather obvious.

The Giants know that if Detroit and Houston (both with serviceable QBs and other needs) pass on the QB, then it is likely WillisPickett will be there at #5.  They obviously feel (if they want a QB) they can get one with 5 or 7--or they could just roll with Jones and maybe take Howell in round 2--dunno.  But they know that a move up for a QB is more value than normal--so they are willing to listen.

Who though?  Who is moving to 5

For sure but going from 20 to 5 is pricey and I doubt the giants want to go that far back

I heard that Tomlin is in love with the kid and will do what he has to do---so we shall see---If the Giants get the #7, #20 and many other picks or players, they can be persuaded--I think that is what they are announcing, but that far?  Good point.

Take a LT this year and draft a QB next year. Anyone with half a brain knows this is the best option considering how much better next years QB class is supposed to be. This gives you a year to make sure the offensive line is fixed before you put a rookie QB behind it.

Unfortunately, Tepper didn’t fire Rhule so you already know Rhule is going to do every he can to try and draft Pickett to try and save his job. LT will be ignored once again and we’ll be watching another train wreck unfold and come this time next year will still be in need of a LT and QB.

It’s okay though because remember, it took Jay-Z 7 years.

Yeah you have to look at the situation excluding Rhule. If Rhule wasn’t our coach we would 100% be drafting BPA or moving down to draft multiple BPA. Bc they struck out with ANOTHER QB…they are at risk for reaching. You can’t reach AND leverage future picks.

There are literally 5 first round grade OTs. There are a bunch of QBs who should be late 1st early 2nd round picks. The move shouldn’t be to move up or to trade next years picks. The move should be to move down, get more picks draft an OT, and then if a QB falls get into position to move up to grab them. OR….you stay put and take Ekwonu or Neal and get the QB next year.

That's a nice thought, but you can't.

Rhule still has final say on roster decisions, including draft picks.

Which is why based on track record you can pretty much guarantee Rhule is going to draft Pickett instead of a LT and we will once again have an incomplete offensive line. The QB and offense will struggle due to a patchwork offensive line and we will be right back to square one again this time next year. It’s been this way every year under Rhule.

    • Give me Anthony Hill Jr or give me death
    • We need a Sam Off Ball Backer to pair with Lloyd. Lloyd is a strong Interior Will especially in Pass Coverage- but that is also Trevin Wallace’s archetype. Need a Rozeboom style run stopper. Rodriguez and Allen fit that
    • There aren’t that many ways to screw Day 2 up.  That’d be them making an obvious reach, or selecting at one of the few positions that we are pretty solid at. Because as excited as we are for the growth and improvement this team is showing, it’s still not an overly talented or deep roster. Honestly, there aren’t really many positions I’d feel bad about. Feelings about Bryce aside (because we are not going to select a QB), it’s really RB (bad positional value) and that’s it. I guess OT too since we grabbed Freeling in Round 1.    While not as high on my wish list as other spots, you can justify WR or TE.     Interior offensive lineman who would likely take over an interior spot either this year (at center) or guard (next for cap casualty of Hunt or Lewis)? Fine by me.   Dlineman? Yes, that’s a highly rotational position and we have zero quality depth.    ILB? Yep, could stand for an upgrade over Wallace.    EDGE? Absolutely wouldn’t hate another option to spell Phillips, Scourton, and Princely.    FS?  Would love to add better coverage skill set to the backend of the defense. Moehrig and Ransom are great in run support but not as good deep. Adding a more traditional FS would allow us to mix and match/run some 3 safety sub packages and or a big nickel type look with a SS down near the line for better run support in possible pass downs.    CB? Could stand to get better at nickel.
