I am hoping that the setup I have lasts a decade for gaming...

I guess maybe I just don't have as much time as others, or I just spend it doing something else entirely.

I haven't watched TV in months, but I'm outside working in the yard or on the boat for hours and hours every week.  Cool looking machines you guys.

To each his own. I pay landscapers because I hate yardwork and a boat seems like a nightmare.

Been alive for 40...have owned a boat for all of them.  (before 13 it was technically my grandfathers boat, but he never used it)  Couldn't imagine not living life on the water.

But you are correct, to each his own.  It's why attending every Panthers game seems wild to me, and people have done it for years on end.

No picture, but I got this bad boy coming in the mail:

https://www.corsair.com/us/en/Categories/Products/Systems/CORSAIR-VENGEANCE-Series-Gaming-PC/p/CS-9050016-NA

Would have been nice to save $500 and build it myself but $1650…not too shabby. Good luck getting a GPU, every time I do I can’t help but sell it for 4x the price to BTC miners. So long as the cooler is figured properly all good.

Going through a depressing break up of 4 years so it will be getting all my love and attention.

I used to be a console person but unless you’re a die hard FPS competitor hooking a PC up to your TV FTW. You can get TVs meant for PCs, though nothing will beat a monitor rate.

Still as a RPG and RTG/TBS player, nothing beats sitting on the couch with a couch master keyboard. Sitting at a desk ruined it for me for the longest time even with a ridiculously priced computer chair.

Never going back to console.

Check this L33T gaming monster!

i7-4790!  16gb DDR3 500gb SSD/1TB HDD, and an XFX 580 4GB powered by an external power supply.

In Blender, Cycles on the GPU render does well.  Gaming is pretty poor.  Like I can play D2, Borderland, CyberPunk 2077 (medium 1080 is about 30 FPS).

They keyboard is my son's since he's taking lessons.

I need a new computer.  It chugs really hard doing Houdini sims or complex math like 3D After Effects work, Unreal, etc.

4790 pairs well with a 1060 6gb.

Jesus. Am I in a time machine? This is a classic 2004 type forum thread. People still use PCs and desktops outside of work? Yeah yeah ... gaming ... I know.

You still use a desktop for work? What kind of backwards ass employer doesn't have a nearly completely mobile setup for WFH?

    • This is a good take it really is to the point dc needs to let the world see the real byoung b/c right now everyone in the media and tepper has had blinders on when it comes to young.  Its hard to even know where the panthers are at skill player wise with such horrible qb play.  I doubt it but legette may be a probowl wr he just cant throw the ball and catch it.  I am just so sick of every excuse in the book for byoung.  LIstened to a podcast and the guy was going over how many different options byoung had on the int and all of them were ok except for the one where he threw an int.  He said the play could be run by a hs qb and they would typically make a good decision.
    • I certainly have my complaints about Canales but I'm not ready to fire him yet for a couple of reasons. First and foremost, Tepper has made this one of the least appealing jobs in the league. Morgan and Canales are here to begin with in large part because guys higher on the wish list take other jobs. If you fire Canales you're gonna end up replacing him with another third tier candidate who wasn't being seriously considered by other teams with openings. That's just the reality of the situation right now as far as I can tell. Secondly, despite plenty of room for critique, we are 6-6 despite the worst QB play in the league. That's really damn hard to pull off in the modern NFL. Especially when your D isn't dominant. Our D is greatly improved but is still a slightly below average overall defense ranking 18th in yards per game allowed and 20th in points allowed. Going 6-6 with atrocious QB play and slightly below average defensive play is pretty damn impressive. Even more impressive when you also factor in that we're in the red on turnovers differential at -3. When you combine league worst QB play with slightly below average D and negative turnover differential honestly you'd expect to be in play for the #1 overall pick, not 6-6 and having just played a game that a win would have you leading the division. So yeah, even though I'm far from sold I advocate for patience with Canales for the time being. If you ask me if I'm bringing him back next year, I'm a yes barring a catastrophic meltdown down the stretch which admittedly is very much a possibility.
