Officially forces Rhule to Redshirt him. For him to go from one read zone read to full read and progressions he needs to sit and study. It worked for Rodgers and Mahomes.  THIS IS A GOOD THING

Yeah him missing a year worth of practice is a good thing.  Now if we suck this year we have no choice but drafting a qb making him 2 wasted picks

They were also 1st round picks with a poo load more talent. Comparing Corral to Wilson because he was a 3rd round pick or Rodgers and Mahomes because he’ll sit a year is a losing strategy. I was hopeful but honestly, he doesn’t look the part and he’s not likely to make big strides this year. I’m right back on my let’s draft a first round QB this year in what appears to be a solid draft class.

We almost have to draft a QB, especially if Baker flops--which in that case Rhule will be fired. Bring in a new coach who gets his guy, and it's conceivable that Corral ends up in the same boat. He's certainly not going to make any big strides this year. Being drafted by the Panthers might have been the worst thing that could've happened to Corral.

That was probably going to happen anyway if he didn't get injured..

The problem comes if Baker is not a flop, but not great, ie he is somewhere in between.  Then we have to decide whether we draft another qb (assuming we can get one we want), or resign Mayfield, or something else.

    • Kon is a damn stud but it’s not any individual player’s team. All of the “big 3” are incredibly and equally important IMO. And LaMelo makes Kon way better (look at his shooting splits with LaMelo on the floor vs without. Also Moose and even Miles are important cogs. Honestly think we’re 1 piece away from being legit top contenders if the young guys continue to develop the next year or two. I trust this FO to be patient to find that piece within the next 2-3 years and not force anything. Plenty of time and even without adding anyone we have the pieces in place overall already to compete with any team.
    • We lost 2 very close and winnable games against top teams in the league while missing 3 critical players despite 2 of our top 3 players shooting unusually terribly. Still split the 4 games that Moose and Miles were suspended, winning the most important one vs the Hawks. This ain’t yo mama’s Hornets man. Hopefully Coby can go soon but even if not Moose and Miles are huge additions for our starting lineup and bench rotations. Schedule is pretty tough after these next 4 but I think we’ll take care of business the next 4 to get to .500 then finish slightly above .500 after that to get a 7 or 8 seed. Keep it rolling boys. Also Kon is having an insanely historic rookie season as a shooter. Like truly can’t believe my eyes watching this kid level of historic. Man what a fuging home run of a draft pick and exactly what this team needed to take that next step forward. He’s gonna shatter the rookie 3 point and franchise 3 point records. Has a real chance to be the 2nd best 3 point shooter ever or dare I say even get to Curry’s level (as a pure shooter, Curry obviously has way more to his game that has made him a GOAT).
    • I hear you but yeah like you say, above average. His numbers were good. You’d think it would be a no brainer. Anyhow… I guess the new staff is also fine with him walking?    I hope if we sign him there isn’t some secret issue of his that led to him not being valued.
