Sounds like she said I hope you F them up and he said me too. Why would she go back on it? She already lost baker and the other players as a trusted media person

When she was initially asked about it on the Around the NFL podcast, she stated those were his exact words.

I don't believe she lied, and as much as she's tried to spin things and walk back her comments, she's never actually denied that was what he said.

Yeah, she's likely screwed up her relationship with Baker and others, but personally I think the reaction to it has been overblown.

Hell, most of the people in this thread cheered him for it.

She went on this Browns youtube show and kinda made herself look even more suspect

Only a few people on here were actually bothered by it.

That said, I'm gonna call bullsh-t on Baker here.

I don't doubt for a second that he said it, but he probably figured it wouldn't go anywhere.

The denial is most likely damage control, and possibly requested by the team.

Based on what? This seems plain as day she fabricated this to get a few interviews and have a few talking points. She thought she could embellish and it would not explode on her, but got busted. Baker is brash, but to say something like that after deliberately laying low makes no sense.

Yeah...that makes no sense at all.

The only way this is a story in any way (besides in the world because Baker is a story for some reason) is if it seen as him calling his shot or guaranteeing a win. Every player (at least those with any passion for the game) go into the game with that same mindset. I'm sure it's pretty much said in every pregame speech.

For some reason, Baker equals story. I don't think he ever really did anything wrong while in Cleveland. Yeah he would go back and forth with reporters who trolled him but who cares, sometimes trolls need called out. He told a team mate who demanded to be traded that he didn't matter if he wasn't part of the team. Maybe a little harsh but entirely true. He felt betrayed that his former head coach went to a division rival the same week he was fired, not sure why he cared but I see no issue treating the enemy like the enemy.

Obviously some media people and people in general don't like him just because he rubs them the wrong way. I guess it happens and it seems to happen to him significantly more than other players so maybe that's why most of the league is extremely bland and only gives coach speak. Baker is bland with his comments but not quite as much as some so I guess by comparison he may seem like an extreme case. 40 years ago he would be considered a QB introvert.

Kinda like another fairly successful QB around these parts . . .

It sounds to me like Baker is telling the truth.  I think she was looking to break something big and blew up a benign co-sign that she created to try to do it.

Also, if I'm not mistaken she is fairly new to beat reporting and/or reporting in general...  as long as I've been aware of her, she was a analytics/betting specialist on ESPN and then NFLN.  When I saw the report and it cited her as the Browns best reporter I was like, "WTF?  When did that happen?"  As long as I've been seeing her on TV, she has NEVER broken stories, she strictly covered the analytics and betting stuff.  So it seems to me like she was trying to get a story off...  I dont think it was malicious or anything.  I do believe she wanted to attention of breaking it, but I genuinely believe her that it stemmed from her excitement for Baker getting the opportunity to reestablish himself as a top QB in the league and they were likely just having off-the-record small talk and she wanted to get a great one-liner out there.  And iirc, Baker said earlier that he's known her a long time, so it sounded like they had a friendly relationship prior...  but, after this?  She might've ruined that.

Yeah for some reason she was a Bills sideline reporter for the game. She tried to reach out to Baker and he was like nah, why would he? She'd probably leak that exchange next time she's on TV. Baker did have a little snark when he mentioned the media is thirsty because he intentionally hasn't given them any headlines this offseason, which I agree with. I bet the NFL is already trying to get him Mic'd up for that game

    • I can say that I have defended Canales because I get that they are doing all they can to keep from looking like idiots for drafting Bryce, from the trade up to signing $150m guards to drafting XL and Brooks etc---nothing seems to work.  And Hiring Canales was part of the Bryce Young rehab program, so so he can't really decide to "move on."  That has to come from Morgan and Tepper. Personally, I think Bryce is due for an injury.  He is small, he is not thick, and he has been a LOT more healthy than most any other QB has who has endured so much pressure.  The thing that bothers me is this---Bryce really does not go through his progressions quickly.  He locks on to his presnap read and stays locked onto him for too long--he seems to fail to anticipate the WR/TE's positioning on the play before the cut--for example, if the WR is running a dig and the CB has his back to the inside of the field, he should be open for a second or less just after the cut.  He seems to wait until the cut has been made before deciding, then checking down quickly while moving in the pocket. OL:  There seems to be a lack of communication--is that on Mays?  Watch this team presnap--they seem a bit confused at times.   I can almost predict the success rate of the play by watching the center and QB before the snap.
    • Anyone else remember back in 2010 when Fox piloted having music under the in-game replays during one of Carolina's games? Not the commercial bumpers but the actual replay clips that the announcers would talk over. Pretty sure it was vs the 49ers. And it was terrible. Point being, Carolina continues being so bad that we get the networks trying things out during their games.
    • Is it bad I found this video more hilarious than pathetic? I am still laughing at that one play where half the people on the field ran into each other and Bryce still couldn't see Chuba wide open... Also laughing at Cade blocking nobody and somehow losing his cleat Man this offense is a poo show
