It starts off a little slow, but gets better as it goes along.

That's been an issue with most new fantasy shows that have these HUGE worlds and plots.  I just am in love with Middle Earth, and the show helped me really scratch that itch.

I'm really looking forward to seeing the follow up seasons, and the fall of Numenor.  It would be kind of nice if there was a bit of a time jump that allowed the rebuilding of Peligar and re-establishment of the Numenorian colonies that would later allow Elendil to found Gondor and Arnor with something better than those magical ships they use.

Yeah people seem to forget it took a while to get GoT off the ground too.  Season 1 ended with a bang/chop but before the finale it was a lot of world building and setting up the chessboard.  It didn't stop there we kept getting new characters from different areas in Westeros etc.  But people are quick to lose their mind about RoP building up the story.  People need to give some slack, they don't have access to all the source material and are trying to create new things while staying close to the lore as possible.

varking are you like associated with the making of the show?

I’m not personally a part of Prime Video or Amazon Studios. I run the shows subreddit at r/LOTR_on_Prime and I’m a part of FellowshipofFans which was the main group of leakers for season 1.

Amazon took note of what I was doing and made me, the subreddit and our team a part of their marketing campaign. They flew me to London in July and took me around Oxford to see Tolkiens local school, pub, grave. Then they took us to meet the showrunners, John Howe and Ramsay Avery and watch 20 minutes of footage well before anyone had seen anything.

After that they started sending me exclusive information about the show to share on the sub before their official social media channels posted them.

Then they flew me out to San Diego for SDCC where we sat down with the main cast and showrunners and had lunch and a party after SDCC. From there I made friendships with a few of the actors and actually daily text two of them via iMessages. We also got to see the trailer before anyone else who’s there. Oh and they signed a limited print print art piece for us, gave us Rings of Power mugs, phone chargers, rain jackets and a bunch of other merch.

Then me and my gf got flown to NY to see the first two episodes about two weeks before the show went live.

During the show coming out each week I got to interview:

Princess Disa, Isildur, Earien, Miriel, Durin IV, Marigold and Nori. When the show ended I got to interview Jamie Wilson the Head of Prosthetics. These were all on Reddit via Reddit Talks which were audio interviews like Radio.

There’s a lot coming up for season 2 marketing and I will be a part of all of that as well.

I am under NDA but my NDA is simply I can’t talk about anything they haven’t given me the green light to talk about, but once I get the green light I can be as honest as I want.

Durin season 1 I was one of eight people who got a feedback form sent specifically to them to fill out for feedback about each episode as they aired and it required us to watch the show twice as soon as it aired at midnight for me.

It’s been wild.

    • I get the rookie QB formula and fully expected to see it implemented. Oh well. For the run game there was no or very little under center stuff until a good ways into the year. At least that is how I am remembering it. And no deep throwing - so stacked boxes which you can say chicken or egg on why.  Hard to run like that.  The QB that people said was so great was pulled for a designated Hail Mary thrower. That’s pretty unusual. And may speak to why we saw few deep balls in some part, along with the OL. To ignore that stuff means you aren’t working with all of the information when you try to mentally model or project what it might be like on the field.  Me, I have a slice of hope that he could maybe be NFL average but getting him to be a plus type of QB is a huge job. It depends on designing the playbook with certain values at the foundation that have to be adhered to first . You have to integrate the other pieces around this one guy’s skill set because he is a real outlier. And he has to learn the under center skill set. Maybe put that Only Positive thread back up people can go there if they don’t want to deal with rightly frustrated fans.
    • Someone has to bare witness to what happens. It's hard to complain if you don't sit through it all.
    • I do not pretend to be infallible or without flaws. I've been wrong on things over the years. We all have. Realistically most of what's been said here and on other Panthers fans social media platforms between the months of May and September for the last several years amounts to little more than spam. People drew lines in the sand over contentious takes on Bridgewater too. To the point of being asked if some people are really a Panthers fan over it. There will be reactionary spam during the season too particularly on gamedays. I've been reading these discussions on the huddle for 20 years. It's the same stuff rehashed the only thing that changes are the names in the front office the coaching staff and the roster. Some fans might be best served to stick to the official team social feeds if they are burned out on all this. Nothing wrong with that either. Different strokes for different folks. We're all human. As for the huddle. Honestly most of us post here out of habit. It's a habit hard to break. No different than the majority of the population that can't stop scrolling Facebook or X. Basically.....
