Stats won't show the two TD passes Jacoby terribly misses.  Amari Cooper should have 100+ yards and 2 TDs

but they didnt.. the scoreboard doesnt show us with a W bc the refs called a ghost call and a missed a huge call.

If we are giving out ghost stats, CMC should have had 200 yards total today but players tackled him.

My problem with Horn isn't his play. It's that we picked him over Fields. He's already covering Amari Cooper and winning most of those battles. Definitely would have given up a TD though on that one play.

Yeah, it wasn't a pretty showing, but it was largely effective. I think part of that was the fact that we are actually talented, though inconsistent (which might be a bigger problem), but I also believe that Brissett sucking. 

We'll try again next week though. There is reason to be guardedly optimistic in my opinion.

I dont even know what you are attemping to discuss. This thread is about our top 3 corners performance. Your comments just seem out of place in this thread. Maybe we can jump to another thread where are talking about the run game?

It's the same sort of approach as "the defense did great last year, it gave up very few yards," without considering the numerous short fields afforded opposing offenses.

The play he slipped and Xavier Woods was over the top? That wasnt a TD, but a decent gain. Horn got beat by a veteran at the line on a single play.. not sure we can use that to say he was a missed pick.

 

I also wouldnt be defending Fields.. the guy still doesnt look like an nfl QB. There is a reason the bears elected to pass the ball less than 20x times today.

I saw Horn lined up against the slot receiver way too much IMO.  Also, thought he used his hands way too much today.  I mean it's like his 4th NFL game (?) so we'll see how he evolves as the year goes on.

Donte is way overrated (at least to some) and will be roasted by good QBs repeatedly over the course of this season.

Henderson is like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.  He covers really well and makes some good plays at times and then goes completely insane and starts thinking he's in WWE.

Taylor is young, raw, and got roasted many times last year.  Maybe with more time he becomes solid.

      It’s definitely a bit of a crapshoot, but Joe covers the team for a living—there’s a baseline expectation that he should have a deep, working knowledge of the roster, positional groups, and overall team needs. That kind of familiarity should come through in the analysis. At times, though, it feels more like he approaches covering the Panthers as an assignment rather than something he’s genuinely invested in. When you read some of the other beat writers at The Athletic, the contrast stands out. There’s a noticeable difference in how deeply they dive into roster construction, scheme fits, player development, and front office philosophy. Their work often feels more detailed, more nuanced, and more connected to the day-to-day reality of the team.       Who was better Jon Beason or Jrod???, for college prospect terms in their drafts...   I think its clear and Jon was what 25th?   Jarod does have luke-like traits and that was 9th overall.   I feel Jon had him covered tho....
