alright cool, but why did he look like dogshit in the first?

Because your TEAM is trash. Why did Rodgers look like poo? Why did Brady look like poo why did burrow look like poo. Why did half the qbs in the league look like poo? And they have better teams and coaches.

That’s my big take away today. My feelings on Rhule are, how are you that underprepared for a season opener at home as a Head coach?

Yeah, that was pretty obvious.

there were people arguing with me during the offseason that reps didn't matter and the way he was running camp was just fine.

Haven't really heard from those people today.

Dropped snaps, batted down passes that Cleveland specifically prepared for and some easy stats on some broken 1st week plays.

We could do a lot worse but we can and should try to do a lot better. He is who he always has been. He will never be a Brees. He will be lucky to top 4k in yards with his play style that relys on pounding the ball first.

We need that the whole game. Yes, he finally woke up after the half but that's was after the other team had a comfortable lead. The up and down is exactly why he's playing for Matt Rhule, the same reason Sam is with Matt Rhule, they both are inconsistent.

They'll fool you into thinking they're actually starters when they are far from it. We need a rebuild, not false hope.

Darnold is consistent. Consistently bad.

So a QB that can bring a team back from a 13 point deficit in the fourth and give them a chance to win is something nobody wants in a QB?

Don't get us in a deficit in the first place. He's a four year veteran. His lack of focus in the beginning of the game is why he's not elite. Had he come out focused, on point, prepared, we could have taken the lead because they weren't playing well themselves.

Cleveland writers famously said he had his head up his ass for years. Half of this game he actually did.

Here's one of them. He got enough reps to look really good in the last preseason game (plus two more weeks worth since.) So you tell me, how many reps does a 4th year vet need to handle a snap and not get multiple passes batted down?

You just want to be right about something that can't be quantified.

Baker totally shat the bed in the first half. I don't think a few more training camp reps would have helped that. You obviously do, but I would pick something a little less subjective to act smug about if I were you.

It's actually been pointed out that the snap problem was with Elflein, not Mayfield.

And to be clear, we're not just talking about "a few more practice reps". We're talking about doing away with the entire dumbass quarterback competition, dispensing with the continual shuffling of the OL lineup and numerous other things that, despite the slant you want to put on this, cannot be blamed on Mayfield.

The entire team that came out yesterday was  thoroughly and woefully unprepared for the challenge. That lack of preparation falls on the head coach.

Defend him if you want, but at this point I'd say just about everyone knows Matt Rhule is not an NFL head coach.

I'm not defending Rhule. Rhule might be the one thing you're finally right about, so congrats.

Baker's play was total cheeks in the first half now matter how many excuses you make for him, and training camp reps were not the reason.

Oh sure. I mean who could ever possibly blame lack of practice reps for looking unprepared?

Just crazy, I know 😐

    • Teams do some super stupid stuff with mid-fairly good QBs. I think they are just absolutely terrified they will be stuck with a QB that is not the quality of the QB they have now, even if its someone like Daniel Jones. Lots of trash QBs go in the first round. I encourage you to take a look at the sad, sad list of first round QBs in the last 15 years.
    • No, it will be a raw 6'7" 17-year-old European who just played basketball for the first time in March and who the idiot GM "had first on our board." He'll play the whole G-League season, get in 42 games for the Hornets and average 1.1 ppg on 35% shooting. Been there, seen that.
    • We missed on Burns at his peak value. That’s the problem with trading for picks 2-3 years away (which people were convinced the Rams would suck by now and these would be higher picks btw). Each year away the pick is the further in value it drops. Fitt was clearly hired based on turning us around quickly. It’s one of the many reasons tanking isn’t really a thing as our player JJ is telling you in this original article. It would take the whole organization from the owners down admitting they aren’t winning soon with Burns and picks 2-3 years away having more value because that’s when we are still rebuilding. It would only make sense if Fitt had a longer leash and would more than likely be the ones making these picks anyway which you wouldn’t want. The question is would you rather have those Rams picks with the strong possibility of Fitt still being here or would you rather Fitt try to “win now” like he did and expedite his firing? Altering the timeline would affect more than just the Rams picks.
