Also another note, there is just something about baker that seems like he doesn’t care or really doesn’t want to be here. He has this lackadaisical and apathetic body language and demeanor, no fire or grit at all

The whole team is that way and it’s a reflection of Rhule.

I keep posting it across multiple threads regarding the different units, but it holds true across all of them...  I keep asking, for all that has changed - assistant coaches, OLinemen, QBs, etc., the one constant is their in-game play has not changed.  And specifically, at QB, what we have seen is, no matter how guys looked before with other teams or even here with other coaches, they have played their absolute worst seasons/games of their careers under Rhule.

We went and upgraded the OL because that was supposedly the problem with thr QBs for the last two years...  Welp.  That wasn't it.  Also, the OL was blamed for the QB issues last season, but we also struggled to run the ball.  So again...  what has been the constant throughline in it all?  Rhule.

Don't get me wrong, Baker has disappointed me from what my expectations were, but it's not him.  It's not the players.  It's not the new coaches.  If we take a step back and look at the entire team and see what's going on, all of the struggles have remained and Rhule has overseen all of it.  It's Rhule.  That's all.

Not Fields... damn it.  I was so high on him.  He is still pretty young but that's a bad stat.

Thats a bit deceiving since he played in a monsoon game one, but yeah he didnt look good this week.  But in his defense he is on his 2nd hc/oc and he has one of the worst lines and wr group in the nfl.

Baker was this bad before we traded for him, he was just in a much better position.

A ton of us tried to tell you guys this, but it was all "no Baker has that fire he has got "it" "

Baker was trash in Cleveland with a playoff caliber roster, I dont know why some of you thought Baker + MCadoo/Wilkes was going to save us from the Rhule/Snow clown show.

I don't even know who his top WR is and he does get sacked a lot.  If we drafted him Rhule would probably have him looking the same if not worse.

McAdoo also setting him up for failure. He has 4 years worth of tape showing he shouldn't be a traditional pocket passer.

Baker has his problems BUT McAdoo isn't making anything easier. The offense is 31st in at the snap motion, 29th in pre-snap motion; & Bottom 1/3 in play action The route concepts are bland

It's like they're allergic to watching film before they trade for these guys. Ironically, the best qb play we've had has been from T2G playing his short, checkdown passing offense which is what we all knew he was.

I'd still say he is average.  Looked solid as a rookie on the worst team in the league and had a good year in 2020 (yes with a solid roter).  I was expecting a step forward not a savior, but damn we might be going backwards.  It's getting clear that our players have little faith in Rhule and Co.  Defensive players used incorrectly, lack of presnap motion on offense, only using 3 WRs, shuffling QBs and OL during TC and preseason.  It's a joke...

It wouldl if we had guys that knew what they were looking at when they watched film.

I dont think Rhule could identify basic formations pre snap.

The browns were not the worst team in the league his rookie year, that was the year before, some of you guys are dense AF.

Baker is what he is, nothing special. He is not going to lift your team into contention by himself and we do not have the talent or coaching to help him with his shortcomings.

He WAS TRASH in Cleveland thats why they traded away their future for a sexual predator who will miss 11 games this season .

I sure as hell dont get the step forward thinking with the group of braindead idiots we have running our O.

Show me a QB that has looked good under Rhule. We should honestly be still in the Cam Newton era with a young backup pushing him, but noooooo we had to let Rhule and Joe have their way.

Cam has been washed for several years now dude. It's absolutely brutal but Rivera and Shula ran him into the ground and got his shoulder destroyed

Found this nugget from CBS Sports stating, once again, it’s the coaching

Even with Christian McCaffreygetting more involved, the Panthers looked lifeless on offense as they search for continuity.

Carolina is only getting beat 13.2% of the time on the offensive line, seventh-best in the NFL. It's on Matt Rhule and Ben McAdoo to inject life into this offense.

I want Sam back.. No I’m not joking or being sarcastic. He has more extensive knowledge of the playbook and we have a healthy cmc and slightly better O line than last year. Bet anything Sam will be starting next Sunday

What possible benefit does starting Sam bring at this point? Do you really think that Sam is the missing piece that will transform this into a playoff team or Super Bowl contender?

Tried to show you guys this before we ever traded for Baker, but  everybody was all " he is a huge upgrade from Sam" yea not so much.

Darnold : Bad throws 71 for 18.5% On target throws 286 for 74.5%

Baker : Bad Throws 84 for 20.9% On target throws 296 for 73.6%

They are basically the same guy. Baker just hasnt started his INT party yet.

    • No disrespect intended, but you act as if we are supposed to value your opinion when it is all emotion and no fact.  The roster (I assume you mean offense) is "still trash" because someone who just signed up for the Huddle has declared it to be so?   Buhahaha.  ha.  Let me show you how FACTS work, and why emotional, unsupported opinions don't carry much weight: TE: Upgraded through the draft.  Sanders is a weapon that should improve the passing game and give Bryce an outlet he did not have last year. RB:  We just drafted the best RB in college football, one who can protect the passer, run the ball, and catch the ball like nobody else on the roster.  His knee will be cleared July 1.  OL: We just signed two of the best guards in football.  that is what Payton did to protect Brees.  Ekwonu has the skill and talent, he was simply missing technique.  We got him a better OL coach.  Center?  Bozeman was ineffective last year.  Corbett is an established veteran OLman.  It seems we are much better up front. WR:  We added a guy who gets open and has averaged about 900 yards per game as a #2 in Pittsburgh with an inferior QB there.  Thielen was a 1000 yard WR last season.  We have not had a #2 like XL, with his YAC capabilities and ability to catch contested passes.  In other words, the X is much better; the Z will be replaced with a stud WR, and the veteran slot will probably not be the #1 WR in 2024--he should be the #2 or even #3 most effective WR.  The 2023 Z WR, who had 418 yards and was showing signs of improving, will not be a starter in 2024.   As much as the OL has improved, we improved the weapons.  QB:  All of these additions increase levels of protection for the QB that he did not have last year and they give him more powerful weapons that he did not have last year.  Young will not be a rookie getting hammered trying to throw to people who are not separating.  This should make him improved.  How much? remains to be seen. Now keep in mind that we did this by not reworking contracts and kicking the can down the road.  We did not have a first rounder in the draft.  We added a second rounder to next year's draft.  We also addressed needs on defense as well, adding established DL, OLBs, ILBs, and DBs.  We get 2 first round pick starters who were injured most of the season back on that defense.  Yes, we lost Burns, Luvu, and a few others, but while being good players, they were either asking for too much money or they were not great fits for the system.  So the D should be better as well. That is not trash.
    • Last year he had Bryce and was in the dog house.  The year before we ran it 90% of the time and we had trash at QB, DJ only had 888 yards that season. We had trash QB and trash coaching his whole time here, hard to judge any wr during his time here
    • We essentially dropped 7 spots and got a future 2nd after the dust settled. Not bad at all.
