This roster stinks, guess what we gave Rhule final say on the roster and you see wonders like PJ Trash Walker out there

we’re down to our 5th QB

Rhule is gone and Wilks is laughable at best as a coach

the silver lining

trade assets for draft capital

Baker/Darnold are Trash

get the #1 overall pick and #33 pick

Get lucky and find a guy like Daboll

cleanse the roster of all Temple/Baylor remnants

The smart ones will.

The rigged (yes, I’m in that camp) RIGGGED NBA lottery system will never allow the hornets get no 1 overall pick, will always go to the next biggest media market.

The thing is...the other big markets if you even consider them that are San Antonio,  utah, indiana. I dont think the other young teams are gonna be that bad. I think the nba wouldn't mind pairing wembayama with lamelo here. The hornets currently look worse than the teams i just named. Also the Commissioner loves lamelo. Not saying this is a guarantee it willl happen but they don't have reasons not to try this year.

The problem with the Hornets is this could cost them Ball.  They have a young top talent and haven't given him poo to work with.  That doesn't work in the NBA...

Yes they could lose him eventually if they dont build but melo will be up for a 200 Plus rookie max extension after next season and the odds of him turning that down are slim cuz he won't get it anywhere else. So there is still time, if they dont he can ask for a trade after he is paid.

The Dolphins forfeited their pick so we would technically get #1 and #32.  It will be a good year to have the top pick.  If we can flip some high salary players for more picks it could be a franchise changing draft.

We don't have any bad players on high salaries (besides Anderson) so those trades don't help us - you're just trading away talented young players entering their primes for shits and giggles.

And turn down a 200 million plus rookie max extension? I doubt it my friend.

Ball signed $100 million with Puma... he makes more money off endorsements then he does playing the game, that's not including others like Hulu

Places like LA only elevate his star power in marketing

    • This is gonna be longest six weeks ever
    • This 1000%.  Hey who wants to sign with the guy that couldn't even get his client the guaranteed contract of a 3rd round pick?  Lmao
    • I don't think it's any weird or unique clause, it's the offset language, same thing so many contract disputes are over. It just means that including it, if a player is cut and then signed by another team, the original team would be able to subtract how much they're getting paid by the new team from what they still owe him on their guaranteed money. For example, it's why Russell Wilson signed for the minimum last year with the Steelers as that was included in his Denver contract.  So if he signed with the Steelers for $1 million, he'd get $1 million less from the Broncos, if it was $2 million, he'd get $2 million less, basically he couldn't make any more money than he was already going to make, so you sign for the minimum to not take unnecessary cap room from your new team while giving extra cap room to your old one. The problem with trying to include it in rookie deals is that a team trying to include it, it says they think they don't really believe the player will make it 4 years with the team before they cut them.  And this usually comes up with one or two rookies in most seasons, the difference is it's usually handled much more quietly and not as public and ugly as this one. The other difference is that it's happening with the Bengals, which I believe I saw are one of the few (or only?) team that doesn't have protections for rookies in rookie and mini camps to be able to participate even if they haven't signed their contract yet.  The other teams have injury protections that allow them to still play, but the Bengals do not, which is also why this one is so public and ugly, as most the time this happens, the rookie is still participating in the rookie and subsequent mini camps, giving them more time to get the contract done before training camp when they'd then hold out.
