Justin Fields 61 yard rushing touchdown

I was opposed to drafting Fields - not because I didn't think he had talent (and obvious athleticism), but because sooner or later, you have to be able to win with your arm/vision/decision making at the QB position. And I didn't see that as being his strength. Of course, players can develop, and he's obviously trending upwards, but I feel like his passing potential is more a byproduct of his athleticism than a reflection of his natural skill-set as a passer. He's surely exciting to watch, and I've enjoyed seeing his play, but to be worthy of the label of "franchise" QB, you're going to face circumstances against the better teams (and in big games) where you'll need to be able to stand in the pocket, find the open man and hit the target - and do so with consistency. I don't see that in Fields, at least up until this point. I kind of hope he does blossom though, if only for the sake of Bears' fans and their perpetual struggle to find a worthy player at the position.

Yeah on the surface it sounds odd, but you'd have to account for injured QBs and their backups who have played less games (and thrown less passes) than Fields who will kinda counteract the fact that Fields throws less passes per game, since Fields has started every game so far.  Baker is one of those - also guys like Ryan Tannehill, Cooper Rush, Zach Wilson, and Joe Flacco.  Flacco is the only one who you could maybe question due to that small sample size of 3 games (although he threw an insane 155 passes over those 3 games lol); the others have played at least 6 games.

Thanks!  Wow for Jacoby.  It looks like Fields is also higher on the bad throw % as well.  He is still definitely a working progress.

When you are talking about rookies/2nd years QBs you usually look at how they are trending.  He had a bad rookie year and struggled the first quarter of the season, but it looks like something is starting to click with him and he is making a bit of a jump.  It's all about context...  I don't understand why you are so against this.  Fields is playing at a higher level lately.  Has his solidified himself at THE guy?  No, but he is looking like he COULD be something special IF he keeps progressing.

It's also a new coach, and Fields first official starting season, understandable the first 4 games were a little shaky.

In his defense, he also has the second highest pressure rate out of any QB which will almost definitely lead to a higher percentage of bad throws. I’d also guess a lot of those bad throws came in the earlier part of the season vs. the last few games. He’s not a finished product by any means but I don’t know how you can’t feel optimistic about him at this point.

Fields ain't it.

He'll never be Brady Mahomes Rogers.

Not even close

He won't be good enough to win a Superbowl with. He's not a great passer as the stats above show.

Yet, you want to give Darnold another shot, and he’s never shown he could win a Super Bowl.
