A Corral Reminder

No, IDGAF if you don't think Corral is our future. He's getting better, and he will be in the mix regardless of rather you like it or not. For those taking a definitive stance on Corral based largely on Rhule's ineptitude, you will eat crow. You will eat crow.

Corral (foot) is no longer in a walking boot as he continues to recover from his September surgery, ESPN's David Newton reports.

Corral will still miss the 2022 season, but his current progress from the Lisfranc injury he suffered during the preseason could set him up for a relatively healthy offseason. As someone the Panthers traded up to select in the third round of this year's draft, Corral represents a significant long-term piece for the franchise, which presently carries quarterbacks Baker Mayfield (ankle), Sam Darnold (ankle) and PJ Walker all on expiring contracts. Although a first-round quarterback selection is certainly a possibility next spring as the team sits with a [now 2-6] record at the moment, Corral at least offers an investment to carry over at the position.

He faced insurmountable odds as it was and now those odds are astronomical since he had a major injury

He deserves a shot at the starting job, no question about it. I’m not super hopeful about it but the odds are just as good to draft a bust at the top of the 1st round

There certainly aren't any Cams or Lucks in the draft from what I've seen. No Burrows or Mahomeses either.

As a fan of the team, I hope all our draft picks become Pro Bowlers.

In this case, the odds are against it.  In general, non-first round QB's hit at a rate of about 10%.

That chance should in no way influence our willingness to draft a QB this offseason.  If we are picking and a guy we think is a franchise guy is on the board, we take him.  If by some miracle we end up with two starting caliber QB's, we trade one for more draft capital.

“whether you like it or not” is like the siren song of people who know their at their last stand

nobody cares about whether or not you liked Matt corral and made huddle posts about him

if the team drafts a 1st round QB, he will be given the reigns.

He is getting a shot regardless but I'm not holding my breath on him coming back and going super nova. One of his biggest concers was durability coming out so looking bad in this preseason isn't what makes me tepid on hope with him at this point. If he can come back next year and just be available then I would be happy to see what he can do.

Getting a shot for what?   Like Growl says, if/when we draft a guy in the first he is going to be giving the reigns.  He will at worst split the first team reps with a vet and MC will just get the scraps.  No sane team puts their first round qb in a competition.

In camp and preseason. There are zero guarantees and we may need him. Look at Lance. Also having a valuable 2nd QB would be killer. So he is getting a shot. I'm just not sure he can make it into a season at this point not on IR.

    • The Athletic posted their goalie rankings for the season... The description of the tiers are as follows... Where would you rank Freddie and Pyotr? And don't cheat and look up the article. I'll post their ranks and the link in a bit.
    • Refs will be in their pocket. Always have to account for that. They are 20th in rush defense. They currently have the worst pass defense in the league. I mean I want to say even Bryce could at least put up 250 or more passing yards given that but man he looked BAD when the pocket collapsed against Miami and they had the 20th pass defense. Just can't expect to consistently get clean pockets like that in this league even with the better OL's. I'd say with this being a home game hopefully our guys will be motivated regardless. We certainly seem to play much better at home. We'll see.
    • They'd never do it, because it really would be insane to do, but if I'm the Commanders, I'd seriously consider trading Daniels after this season, especially as he'd get a HUGE return for him. He's RG3 part 2, with his body type and style of game, I just can't see how he holds up long term, he's going to end up having a seriously injury prone career. It would take some massive balls (or pure insanity) to pull the trigger on trading him, but I do think 5 years from now it would be looked back upon as a smart trade.
